I saw The Addams Family just because I see everything love Nathan Lane is in and didn't expect it to be too good because of all the so/so and bad reviews. BUT - I was very happily surprised! I thought it was a great show. Funny, great lyrics and great cast. Of course I'm prejudiced because I love Nathan so much but it was really an all around good show and I would highly recommend it. I'm thinking of going back to see it again!
Just as an aside - I got there very early so I could meet him on the way in to ask him to sign two show posters I had. He was quiet, but nice, signed them both and thanked me for my compliments! -

I DID GO!
And boy am I happy that I did. :3 It was the 30thday before Halloween. Could hardly have been more perfect. Unless of course I'd been able to meet the cast. But what a terrific show (I mean, terrible! Completely horrible!!
I had such a fantastic time. I mean, I knew right from the moment I read the news in my South Pacific playbill from last year about Bebe teaming up with him for a new Addams Family musical that I was absolutely going to HAVE to see it. I mean, I adore musical theater and the Addams. I have been a huuuuge fan of both Bebe and Nathan for a looooong time. Getting to watch both of them perform live was, of course, an amazing experience! Two exceptional, phenomenal actors for (probably) the price of one! And beyond them, the whole production was just killerthe music, which I thought was pretty memorable and awesome, the rest of the wonderful, brilliant cast, the hilarious dialog and costumes, sets, puppets, choreography (of which I only wish there'd been more!), etc. The whole package was just a real treat.
I'm thrilled to have been fortunate enough to see this show with both its stars (gelling and playing so fabulously together!) Nathan is leaving it in March, to be replaced by a new Gomezwhom I'm sure will do an admirable job, but I can't imagine anyone living up to Nathan's hysterically funny presence.
The show was quite marvelous, and I totally delighted in watching this cast. As I left, I made a donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, at Nathan's suggestion.
