Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Queen Latifah

Yes, Queen Latifah is a female hip-hop icon, but to be quite honest, I know her best as an actress than as a rapper because I can list all her well known movie/tv roles right off the bat than her songs (except for "Ladies First" and "U.N.I.T.Y."). What about y'all's opinions??

Personally, I prefer her career as an actress than her career as a rapper (though I do respect her music). At her best, she can evoke a sense of emotion with her roles, whether it would be funny (Living Single, Bringing Down The House), poignant (Set It Off, Life Support, Bessie), or a food for thought (The Secret Life of Bees, Hairspray).
