Her views make her that much sexier. She's the Golden Age's Natalie Maines
I LOVE women who stood/stand up for equal rights during a time when it wasn't popular.

She was in the First Amendment Committee during the time of Hollywood's own version of the McCarthy era. She also had a lot to say about anti-Semitism. If all the liberals/Democrats of today could be like her get their priorities straight, I mean they would be solving a lot more problems than they're doing now!

I have always loved Myrna but after reading Being And Becoming I also developed a profound respect for her. She was just plain wonderful.

While Myrna was far from the first white woman to fight racial prejudice, she was a welcome addition to those fair minded people who had5b4 the sense and the intelligence to be free from race prejudice. In my experience, most racists are not really perceptive people. It begins with black people, and then before you know it, they are ignorant towards other things outside the boundaries of race, sexuality or religion. That's just my experiences with them.
Anyway, Myrna Loy was way to classy to have been bigoted. And class is really part of what makes someone accepting. -

From my reading on her, Myrna Loy comes across as not only an intelligent person but also a wise one [yes there is a difference]. A wise person is more likely to be a more thoughtful person. They question the status quo and don't accept things just because others do.
Instead they search for the truth behind things and are better able to understand things and people. They are forever curious and do not suffer from a narrow point of view. Myrna appears to have been like this. Her lack of prejudice and wisdom combined with grace and charm would have made her a delightful person to know. -

I am a very Conservative person and a huge Myrna Loy fan. The best way to judge an actor or actress is on their body of work ( unless they are really out there ( Robert Blake being an obvious example of this)). I really hate that someone's political beliefs is used to praise or condemn their body of work. A perfect example is William Powell and Myrna Loy: They were opposites politically, but they were one of the greatest screen teams ever, and unlike some of the other ones ( Tracy & Hepburn or Wayne & O'Hara come to mind) that can be discussed individually, you cannot go over Powell's career without discussing Loy and vice versa. Finally I have seen many Powell movies without Loy, and Loy without Powell, and trust me I will take Myrna ( liberalism and all) over the more Conservative Powell. Why? Watch movies like Penthouse, The Prizefighter And The Lady, 13 Women, and I can go on and on.
