In my high school we have a fairly comprehensive theatre program including two sequential classes, a senior scene workshop class and a repertory class, where the students completely produce shows from writing to performance. I directed the most recent one which was performed to classes during the school day today. Seven performances, with about 5 minutes of break between each. It was a marathon. By the last performance the actors were right on with the characters and timing, not to mention that all of the elements of production were finally complete instead of passible.
I sat down and a friend of mine told me that she was standing in the back of the room (we were PACKED so all that was left was standing room). At the end of the show we had a Q&A, mainly to generate some interest in the program with the student body. As usual, no one was willing to speak, so one English teacher started talking in circles. Then Cathy started saying all of these amazingly complimentary things about the production, the acting, and how impressed she was.
This made my day, considering how we teched the show in two days (which is near impossible in even a professional setting let alone a high school setting), only had one extra curricular rehearsal in addition to the 4 class periods (40 min. each) this week that we had after about 2 weeks of break. Also considering that my directing job consisted of me pretending I knew what I was doing. -

I think she lives on LI now because my Mom and Grandpa saw her at an event for Suffolk County at the Huntington Town House nearly seven years ago, and I saw her walk out of the Michael's Arts and Crafts Store not too far from Walt Whitman Mall on 110 in Huntington Station.
I had been waiting in Mom's car so she would not have to park in the parking lot, when out walks Cathy, a bit tired looking but gorgeous as ever. She's definitely luminous on screen, but even a bit prettier in person! She walked in front of the car and I had to look twice because her figure wasn't voluptuous like it appears in film. That's not to say she's ever been chubby, because obviously she's always had THE ideal figure, but she just looked ten pounds thinner than you might expect. But I digress
Anyway, Mom confirmed that it had indeed been her, and said ahe was an absolute sweetheart with a winsome smile to match [=
