I've liked him in everything I've seen him in. I think the first movie was Carlito's Way, and eventhough it was a minor role and I didnt have a clue who he was, I was impressed with the performance. Loved him in Indian Runner. Absolutely loved him in LotR, and in everything else I've seen him in he's been really good IMO. I would like to check out his spanish language films.

That's "The Passion of Darkly Noon" one of two films written and directed by Philip Ridley.
Rumour has it that he never spoke in all the time they were filming, so other actors thought he really was a mute. -

Oh thanks. That's the one.
So he likes the method style, hey? Is it true he lived in a tent and slept with his sword on the set of LotR?
I really liked him in Daylight but it's a pretty crappy movie. He's good, though. I also really liked him in the Michael Douglas thriller. -

I think he slept out a couple of times but I seriously doubt he lived in a tent. He kept his sword with him, I think it was reported - but I can't see the point of sleeping with it!
It seems he'll do what he can to help himself live the part, including things he's found to help dress the set and so on.
There's a scene in "A Perfect Murder" when he's destroying the painting he was creating - it's unexpected for that character but humanises him, and makes the viewer see him as a person, not just as a villain.
He is, er, gorgeous in "Daylight" - just as he's meant to be. I was sorry when his character bought it.
