She was only 'famous' for well.not as long as palin was/is so I can understand he is a bit grumpy at most times. He's still human, people!

I hate it when people write things like this on posts! GARSH! Now I feel really bum. Blooaaa
But i think I'm just gonna try and remember him as he was in the Monty Python days, because he was young and fresh back then.
      Now I'm sad. Thanks.

omg I hate it when people say stuff like that. "ohh he was mean and grumpy to me! He didn't seem like he wanted to sign my paper!" sometimes someone could be the nicest person in the world and suddenly says the most insulting thing that you ever heard. Just like people think John Cleese is mean and controling. Do you really think he's like that 24/7? People say stuff blah blah blah. You can't demand him to be grateful and nice to you. Sure it's his job, but your being rather silly saying 'oh he owes me. I buy his material. He has to be nice to me. He should be licking my feet clean!"
And all that crap about being the 'nice one' do you think that's a lie? Do you actually believe a bunch of interviewers, the pythons and countless other all got into a room and said 'alright. From now on Michael shall always be the nice one. Eric your the charmer and Graham you be the quiet one. Now I don't any of you saying they are anything but!" I've heard many many people talk about how 'nice' Mike is and you just have to believe that because so many people say the same thing. But in no way does Michael Palin have to be nice all the time just like you can't expect him to owe you a smile and a whole little chit-chat. Your just being silly. I'm being silly. It's a silly world.

Okay I know this is a stupid question that might get made fun of but whatever. Michael Palin was the only cute one and I was hoping that someone might soothe my soul and say he had kids!!! Did he? Obviously he's an uncle but does he have a son and if so does anyone have pictures of him? (I'm no stalker!)
                  Thanks!

Michael has three kids. I have seen a picture of the three of them when they were little and were like hugging his dad, they were so cute!, specially his daughter.

I spoke to him at a book signing in Guildford last year. There's a 'season' for it. He seemed ok, but doing that must be a real drag. He must get asked the same questions a thousand times. I once worked on cruise ships as a photographer and whenever I was shooting the captains party, all these plebs thought it was the funniest thing since Python to ask him 'Who's driving the boat?' The captains just smiled, but I'D heard it so many times I wanted to stuff my camera down their throats! I met David Attenborough too and he was very nice. A charming man.

john cleese has said that michael palin is his favorite python to work with. i'm going to take his word for it. besides, monty python fans have been around for almost 40 years. thats longer than (hopefully) any of us have been alive and the fact that he still doing things like this is enough for me.

What people have to realise is that you can't expect somebody who's always in the limelight, getting snapped by photographers and harrassed by obsessive fans (I want it known that I'm not pointing the finger at anyone in particular here) to be happy 24/7. They are humans just like you and me. They have their good and bad days. You can't judge a character purely on a grumpy face.
But then again, I've never met a celebrity in my life But if I did see someone who I admire I would probably just go up to them and say, "I'm sorry to disturb you, but I just wanted to tell you that I really admire your work." and then go back to whatever the hell it is I happen to be doing at the time.
And maybe, with any luck, they'll call me back over, thank me for being so courteous and respecting their privacy, invite me to join them for lunch, and offer to sign an autograph. And not just a piece of paper with their name scribbled on it but an authentic one, saying something along the lines of, "To ______ (insert name here), _______________ (insert message here), __________ (sign name here)".
After all, one day I may become famous, and if I do, I don't think I would appreciate being followed around by obsessive fans and having my picture taken without my permission. Although I would happily sign autographs or have a picture taken with a fan if they asked nicely enough.
However the happenings in the third paragraph would probably occur only in my dreams =P
"But why is the rum gone?!"

You make some really good points. I know I would hate to be famous. It would be fun for maybe a week or two; then I think it would just get old fast. Having people come bug you whenever you leave the house; the whole world knows about it when you screw up; when you find a new girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife; when you brush your teeth in the morning; take a crap at lunchtime
I think I'd just get sick of it. I would probably be one of those celebs that refuses to talk about my personal lifein interviews I'd only talk about my work.
And I hate getting my picture taken as it isI don't even let my friends or even my mother take my pictureyou think I'd want 87 people a day asking me to pose for a picture with them? Hell no.
I've never met a celebrity either, and I think that if I ever saw one, I wouldn't even go talk to them. I'd just let them enjoy their dinner or morning coffee or tennis lesson or whatever in peace. (Of course I say that now, but let's see what really happens if I ever do bump into someone famous :-P)
