AARGH!!! Why do I have a knack for always being so close to seeing Michael Palin in person and missing him by
          just that much
? May I say "AARGH!!!" again, please? Thank you. AARGH!!!
Someday, though, someday maybe there'll be some events when the
          New Europe
book comes out in the US? Anyway, graychap, I'm really glad to hear that you had a great time - and the same in advance, I'm sure, to mardi!

Don't I have to be male for you to call me a bastard? 🙂
Michael's favorite memory of Graham was when they were shooting Life of Brian. He said it was amazing how Graham was not only the lead actor in the film, but also the set doctor; taking care of crew members who didn't feel well and giving them medication.
Then, when I went up to have my book signed, Michael said, "So you're a fan of Graham?" I said yes and then he spoke more about him, saying what a good person he was, that he was a gifted physician and what a tragedy how he died. It was very touching.
I'll never forget that night meeting Michael, truly a highlight of my life.

                    Hi
I also have met the wonderful Michael Palin, it was at the Royal Geographic Society in London in Sept 97. He was giving a lecture on his 'Full Circle' TV show and book. I ran out after he finished and managed to have a quick chat with him in the lobby and got my book signed.
He was a really sweetie and I got to tell him he had been my inspiration to travel since 'Around the World in 80 Days' which he said he was glad about
He is beyond nice if you meet him I agree and I am glad you had the opportunity to meet him. It was one of the highlights of my life I can tell you
Most famous people I have met are completely self absorbed and superficial but Michaal was kind of 'Dad like' if thats not a mad thing to say!

                          YEEEEEEEESSSSS 😄 😄 😄
My family and I went to his book signing in Carlisle, because we were on holiday in cumbria last tuesday. I was extremely nervous, partly cause I love him and was wonderinng what would happen, and partly because the queue was huge and I was scared we'd run out of time.
He was sitting about half way through the shop and my dad got New Europe and my sister and I went into the shop to peep at him, when I first saw him I was like "OHMYGAWWD"
I took his diaries that I got for my birthday, which my sister got me and coincidentally wrote "Sorry this isn't michael's signature! Happy 18th Birthday!" I couldnt believe he was actually there! He was being really friendly to an 8 year old boy and chatting away to him, it was so CUTE! And he was very personable to everyone and smiley.
We got to him and he read what my sister put in the diaries and laughed and said "ah very good" and wrote "this isnt michaels signature either! Michael Palin x" and signed new europe to us all. I said thankyou michael and my sis went "thankyou sir galahad" and he said "Sir galahad, oh right!" and laughed!!
I agree he has a presence and for his age very striking and attractive. I came out absolutely buzzing! Best day I've had in years! He was the ultimate person to meet in my eyes and it's been fulfilled. Hes just so lovely

I'm very glad you got the opportunity to meet him and that he had the same impact on you that he had on me (and probably thousands more people).
                            Yay!! :))))

That is probably the most wonderful story I've read all day. In fact, it probably made my day -he seems so darn sweet! And funny, but that's a given
I hope I meet him one day! He seems like such a good, good man.
I met Terry Jones earlier this monthhe was pretty nice, too! He didn't write anything like that in my books, thoughhaha, although you DID have pretty sweet circumstances
                                Come to Minnesota, Michael! please?
Well, a c'est 'The Meaning of Life'.
