I get that they feel left out if a role that's about a trans person isn't given to a trans person. But to be honest the acting job should go to whomever fits the role, no matter what they have or wish they had between their legs.
Another thing I don't quite get is why make such a big deal about it. Surely if you're trans you want to just slip in and not have a huge sign pointing to yourself saying TRANS! TRANS! NOT A BIOLOGICAL [insert gender]

He did make a logically invalid argument by affirming the consequent so he is in the wrong but I'm not sure he was insensitive.
