I just started reading. I'm on the part where she spends the summer with her aunt and cousins as she was dropped off at the convent by her mentally ill mother and she's about 5 or 6. She went to the home when she was three years old. She was raised by her aunt who she thought was her mother from newborn to three years old. So far it's pretty sad, but I haven't gotten far enough to really be able to say yet.

I'm more than halfway through and I can honestly say that it's good. Better than good. There are definitely sad parts involving her mentally ill, abusive mother, an evil nun, and a few other villians, but there are a lot of funny parts too. Especially the bits about her friend Crazy Cindy. Give it a read.

Whatshe's got a book out? I haven't heard jack about it. I used to love her her voice (yeah, people hated her voice, but I liked seeing her go the hell off on people in films) and anything Rosie Perez was in during the '90'swondered what the hell happened to her since I haven't really seen her in hardly anything during the past decade (except the cable film LACKAWANNA BLUES, which was pretty good.) Good to know she's still around and acting.

her voice is horrible. its so annoying that i kills almost all attraction. it's very extreme and very grating whenever she talks bc her hispanic accent is so pronounced. she's like sofia vergara when sofia acts.

I read her book. She had a rough childhood. her mother should have let the aunt raise Rosie. It is a good read but hard to read too. She really had some bad times growing up. She is more forgiving that i could be.

Amazed at how many things she remembers from her traumatic childhood, and in such detail, down to the exact dialog. Wish a little bit that her showbiz career was covered in as much detail. But it's a very inspiring, and honest, story.
