It is amazing that a year has passed.
Anybody feeling less angry? Less stunned by her spectacularly bad luck or the fact that someone who cared so 111cmuch about other people had no one on that day who cared about her? -

It is hard to believe. I remember so vividly watching that Larry King show about her condition and just feeling so shocked by the whole thing. I'm furious about how stupidly these injuries are handled, let alone the lack of safety training and regulations. So many people perish who might have been saved. I drove past a ski resort over the weekend, and I noticed more people seemed to be wearing helmets. I thought of poor Natasha, and chills went up my spine. At least more people are taking precautions on the slopes; yet, it's cold comfort, since I still miss seeing her act or interacting with her marvelous family. What a stupid waste! We really miss you, Natasha! My heart goes out to your family. These memories are always so painful.

It's upsetting for her family, but its not going to keep me up at night, she never did anything for me, nor would care if i died, just because she's an overly paid actress she gets everyones sympathy, how about the 10 people who died in Africa in much worse conditions whilst i wrote this, not an ounce of sympathy, well maybe now that iv pointed it out.

Well the world IS messed up, but you miss the point. With your logic you could condemn any person who shows the slightest bit of grief or sympathy for someone who is not immediate family by putting out that "Gee, 10 people died while I was typing this, why don't you grieve for them?"
That's a fools' logic.
And the logic of someone who is sadly missing the 'sensitivity' gene. If you can't understand the difference between events which are an abstraction to us because there IS no connection, and the grief we feel when we know of and follow the career of someone, even vicariously through their work, then you don't understand ANYTHING.
Hey, if an author whom I love reading or an artist whose paintings I adore, suddenly died before their time, I'm well within my right to grieve, because it IS a direct loss for me. I will never again enjoy their artistry, their craft, and the world is a lesser place because of it.

What a cold-hearted twit you are, wilsiarnio. NR could hardly be classified as overpaid; perhaps you don't realize she was one of the most philanthropic people around, who raised millions of dollars for amfAR in the fight against AIDS, which killed her father, Tony Richardson. Years ago, while attending a performance of Vita and Virginia, I met NR's glorious mother, Vanessa Redgrave, as she arrived at the theatre. I felt NR's loss more keenly after having that chance encounter. FYI, most of us expressing our grief also feel the same grief for all the world's tragedies. No one needs idiotic trolls who always have to belittle others' feelings by making some ridiculous sta111ctement about how many others have been killed, etc. Every death on the planet brings grief to someone; grieving is not some popularity contest.

Amidst the grief I'm also a little bit angry with her for not wearing a helmet and not seeking immediate medical attention after her fall even if she felt fine. It's every grownups duty to their loved ones (especially their chldren) to be as careful as you reasonably can. But it's so easy to forget and think "This isn't dangerous".
One thing I really hate but see all too often is parents bikeriding with their kids who insist the kids wear helmets but t1c84hey ride without helmets themselves. That "Do as I say not as I do" attitude is setting a really bad example.
