Nothing against RR, but he does say a lot of things. Im still waiting for Grindhouse for be released on DVD in full form.
I think an idea RR pitched was a spin-off with Johnny Depps character called The Blind Gunman. Id love to see it, but after Sin City 2. Johnny Depps character was defiantly my favourite in the Mexican trilogy. -

I don't think he'll make another. He really dropped the ball on Once Upon a Time In Mexico. It should've been a bigger movie, but he rushed it and the movie suffered. It's good, but not as good as it should've been.

OUATIM is actually the 4th movie in the series. He never made part three, but had flashbacks of scenes which would have been part 3 in part 4. The reason 3 never needed to be made, as it was kinda the same as 1. So a new movie would be part 4 1/2 or part 5.

I would say.. the film should have FELT more epic.. but.. I don't know.. I'd love to see another.. although as endings go.. it wasn't too bad a fitting end.. although I've heard the whole spin off story with Sand's character as well the story would be that the mariachi would show up in THAT story.. as kind of a side character..
actually.. I think to me.. that's what was OFF with Once Upon a Time.. in that it was too short.. for the fact that the mariachi wasn't really the main character.. it was trying to encompass these new characters.. and being so short.. just felt like it paid short shrift to all of them.. although I enjoyed the actors.. I would LOVE to have seen the Reuben Blades character fleshed out more.. the same with the.. can't even think of the chick's name.. or more about the politics and the drug runner being such a force in the country -

I definitely agree that the movie could've been soooo much better. Desperado is probably my favorite movie and I was so psyched to hear they were doing another with Depp. I was pretty disappointed when I saw it though. For me I think the movie was too high-budget. I loved the feel of the first movie. And it's been a long time, but from what I rememeber Salma's character just sorta stabbed him in the back for no reason. Didn't like that too much.

Contrary to what most of you said, I think the biggest problem with 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico' was that there were other major characters in the film at all. The first two work beautifully because they're both about the Mariachi and a girl against a gang. They're elegantly simple. The third one, however, is full of unnecessary characters and political intrigue that seems like it belongs in another franchise. It's definitely a case of less being more.
The best way to make a fourth film would be to pick up where 'El mariachi' left off, and put Carlos Gallardo back in the role. Banderas could even play the villain! That could be a very cool and surreal movie.

WTF ARE YOU SAYIND DUDE? Salma appears a whole lot in the flashbacks, even showing how she died. That wasn't previous footage, that was original shotings!

You must be a troll or something. Surprise surprise, Rodriguez' imdb board contains fans of Rodriguez' movies. What the hell are YOU doing here?
No we honestly don't think it was a ripoff. Thanks for trying to dictate our opinions about a movie, but we can judge films for ourselves thankyouverymuch.
If liking Rodriguez films makes me "close minded" then so be it. If you open your mind too much, your brains will fall out. -

Yes, Rodriguez should do another one. OUATIM is part 4 indeed. So he should do part 3. I think he wrote the script (called Pistolero) already a long time ago. Would be a good idea to continue where Desperado ends. They say this is his "Dollar-trilogy", so lets hope the next one will be at least half as great as Leones part 3: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

I'm happy with what I got. a fourth mariachi movie would take away the "mariachi trilogy". Some directors think there's always that one story they think is missing but in the end didn't need anyway. Worse is that they either truly believe that, or they just use it as an excuse to try and squeeze more money out of the franchise. I hope Robert Rodriguez is neither.

Screw Sin City; screw Spy Kids; screw Machete. I want another El Mariachi movie. El could have been our Sartana or Django.
I don't know what I want to see in another El Mariachi movie, but I'd love to see Rodriguez go old school and use his rebel filmmaker tricks. Use only what you can get for free, live with your mistakes and edit around them etc
Second best would be producing a new one with someone else directing.
I'll torture you so slowly, you'll think it's a career. -
