    Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Eva Marie Saint

    I've never heard her say a bad word about any co-star/director (even the notoriously tyrannic Otto Preminger) nor have I heard a bad word said about her by anyone else. After reading some old articles and interviews about her it seems she had her pick of some of the best roles of the 1950's following her Oscar win in 'On the Waterfront' but eschewed them in order to be with her family. She had the complete package- beautiful, talented and most importantly it seems she's been a nice person as well! I find this lady fascinating and would love to have the opportunity to interview her and find out more about her. I know she's stated numerous times that she doesn't like the idea of writing a book, which is admirable but what I wouldn't give to hear about more of her experiences.

      couldn't agree with how you put that more Kalifornia85 though you forgot to mention she lost one of those juicy roles due to pregnancy with her daughter Luarette that of Clara in Long Hot Summer opposite Paul Newman whose then fiance Joanne Woodward replaced her seemlessly I might add [a sad twist to that story being Joanne herself became pregnant during production and later miscarried the baby only to conceive Nell around the time Laurette was born}
      "why are you married to him then if you can't work with him how do you live with him?"
