i also admit he was one of my first real movie crushes. i just loved the smile he gives when kat realizes that he's casper! sighs and some guys should look a little rougher around the edges as they get older, it makes some even hotter! to use an old phrase, it makes them "rough and rugged."
kinda sad, but another early crush for me was Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid. yes, i know he was just a cartoon, but he became the basis of the perfect guy, in my eyes. especially when he says "i lost her once, i'm not gonna lose her again." ok, i'm done.

How old was Christina Ricci, for that matter? She didn't look 12 to me in '95 and now, watching that movie again, she doesn't look 12.
Then again, there's a lot of 12yr old girls who don't look their age. My sister somehow went from ten to sixteen in a year and a half. -

Couple things: First, Devon didn't do the voice of the animated ghost Casper. That was someone else.
As far as age goes, Devon was small for his age and most movies prefer to hire older actors to play young characters. In NOW AND THEN, they had a bunch of fifteen year olds playing twelve year olds. -

River Phoenix was 16 in Stand By Me and Ryan Merriman convincingly played a 12 year old in The Deep End of the Ocean at 16, he's only a year younger than Jonathan Jackson who played his 4 year older brother.
But due to film production, I bet these actors including Devon were 15 and hadn't hit their growth spurt yet.

Christina was 15 2000and Devon almost 17. Devon was adorable in that, one of my first crushes. I remember watching it in the movie theater with two girlfriends and when Casper shows himself during the dance we all drooled and went: Whoaaaaa! hahaha

My Introduction to Devon Sawa: I tagged along with a buddy of mine, his 10-year-old daughter, and a bunch of her friends to the opening night of Casper. The theatre was full, mostly kids and their parents.
When Devon's face appeared near the end of the movie, there was the loudest gasp I have ever heard in a theatre, immediately followed by laughter as people became embarassed at having reacted so strongly to that gorgeous little guy's face.
My friend said I was one of the loudest ones
Needless to say, I became a stealth fan! -

That reminds me of when I saw Titanic in the theater and the whole place gasped when Leo first appears in his borrowed tux. I wasn't into him but I thought it was great! I really love genuine crowd reactions. I wish I could have seen the Devon one. I had a big crush on him as Casper when I was a teen. He was just too cute.

LOL! I'm from the Philippines & when I saw this in the theatre, I was with my mom & when they showed Devon's face, all of us (except my mom & the adults) did a collective gasp! I was pretty embarrassed as I didn't have a crush on him then but to see the real Casper look like Devon, certainly deserved a gasp don't you think?

when i was younger i had the biggest crush on him. i used to watch the film all the time just to see him dancing, and when he says "can i keep you?" swoon!
several years later, i watched final destination and really liked it. had no idea at all that it was him until i came on here!
i think he looked better younger.
