Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Kyle Secor

    TorsoDahlia — 22 years ago(March 17, 2004 05:26 PM)

Kyle as Det. Tim Bayliss on Homicide was by far the best character on the show. Letting things haunt him and always having to know the why. Very emotional and open to things most wouldn't give the time of da2000y. A very refreshing character when one looks back at all the different array of characters on television thru the years. His is and always has remained my favorite alltime Tv character. Best duo would be Bayliss & Pembleton. It's a shame that Kyle was never recognized like Braugher Emmy wise, cuz in my opinion you couldn't have 1 without the other. Both were the heart & soul of the show and us old H:LOTS fans that discussed and watched the show way back when when it began know this to be true. Those 2 characters were just so connected although direct opposites. Secor is as underrated an actor as I have ever seen, but when your best work is a cult tv series I guess that is going to happen. If there are any other true Secor fans for the actor check out the htf film Delusion. He's great in it as a quirky hitman.

      You mention
      Delusion
. It's funny. I was sharing an apartment in Milwaukee with my mother (I had lived alone for quite a while prior to that, but circumstances with which I will not bore you had us living together again for a year) when H:LOTS started. I knew who Kyle was before that, but became totally obsessed at that time(I still like him a lot, but the obsession phase ended a long time ago). I saw
      Delusion
and wanted a copy for my very own. I went to the Blockbuster nearest where I lived and they didn't have any for sale. They checked and found that their store on the opposite side of Milwaukee had one. I had to go to work the next day, so my mother who couldn't pick Kyle Secor out of a line-up wound up making a bus trip across Milwaukee to get it.
      He was
      SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
cute in that movie!!! Even if the character was as dumb as a bag of hammers!!! "Carcoon"!!!!!
Oh, you can't do that with a ping pong ball!!

Bayliss was a fantastic character on the show and shined the most along side Frank.

I'm sure most of you true H:LOTS probably have all the episodes on DVD, BUT just in case you DON'T-the cable channel CENTRIC (check your local listing for channel/airtime)is re-running the series.
I'm definitely loving Kyle's "Bayliss"-he and Andre (Frank) have great chemisty (acting wise-that is)

Tim Bayliss was the best thing about that show other then the Baldwins guy character.

Bayliss and Pembleton were a great duo on H:LOTS, but I must respectfully disagree about
                  Delusion.
                  Secor's character was
                  all
quirk, and I personally found his performance cringe-worthy.
But he has done some lovely, understated (and overlooked) work in other movies. When I saw
                  Untamed Heart
, in which Kyle had a bit part that culminated (IIRC) in a fight with Christian Slater's character, my thoughts were: (a) how ridiculous to think that shrimpy Slater could overpower 6'5" Kyle, and (b) this movie would have been much better with Kyle in Slater's role.
