Kyle and Andre Braugher

I miss watching these two great actors work together. Whenever I mention "Homicide: Life on the Streets"to a friend or acquaitance, I tell them that I could watch a scene with Pembleton and Bayliss reading names from the phone book. That's how well these men worked together.

Bruagher is a much better actor, but teh chemistry is great. Who was it that said that Bayless was in love with Frank? Thats just stupid. I love my best freind. Doesn't mean I am gay. Sounds like some homaphobia to me.

I did actuallyI believe that Bayless loved Frank much more than just as a close friend. Remember Bayless struggled with his sexuality for a period of time, he dated women, then men, then bothguess he was bi, but yes there were some deep-rooted feelings there.

How can saying Baylisswho later came out as biwas in hearts with Pembleton be homophobic? You need to figure out what homophobia means and then learn to spell it.

He did love Frank. When he talked about it with one of his co-workers in season 7, he said it 5b4in such a way that it was obvious the love transcended "best friend" type love. I don't know if he wanted to become romantically involved with him, per se, but it was definitely a deep kind of love.

That kind of love doesn't have to be romantic or erotic, but perhaps on an emotional level. Call it a bromance, two men working closely together, that has a friendship that grew too close for comfort. The old married couple analogy works, because they are so in tune, in sync, they know each other by heart. I don't think Bayliss wanted to get romantically involved, not even on an unconscious level.
It's just, sometimes you meet certain people, you reach them, you struggle with them, and know it's something "there" that struggles back. Like, you reach the bottom of their souls, their innermost thoughts. Meeting people on that level is very frustrating, because you make yourself so vulnerable. If the relation is malign, it may become a destructive relationship. If it's healthy, it can be very creative and fruitful.
A truly deep an meaningful relation between men is very rare, even in television. To take Homicide as an example, compare Meldrick Lewis, he feels very uncomfortable reaching down to that level. Bayliss and Pembleton are strong enough to not let that bother them. Like Pembleton said, they are like a "real" family, with fights and harsh words and competetivness. For better and for worse, whatever happens are "true" feelings.
It's not romantic or erotic, it's the kind of love we spare for our brothers and sisters, a favorite uncle, or a best friend. If we are lucky, perhaps we'll have one relationship in our life on that truly meaningful level. And what's so fantastic with Homicide, and Bayliss/Pembleton, is that they were able of showing that for us, because it's so very rare
Also, don't underestimate Pembeltons love and affection for Bayliss. Pembelton is a person that simply doesn't have any friends, But he let Bayliss in anyway. And that speaks for helluva lot -

I wonder if they're still friends? Kyle used to say they got along really well. I'd love to see them do theater together. I know Braugher does a lot of Shakespeare, and Secor originally wanted to focus on the stage.

Hmmthat would be awesome if Kyle/Andre could work together again-oohKyle could guest-star on Andre's new show "Men of a certain age"-now, that would be cool!
I remember Andre's "Frank" would recite alot of one-liners Shakespeares quotes on H:LOTS

I'd watch these two5b4 read a phone book together. One of the wisest investments I've ever made was buying the mega-set. I'm still enthralled by this series, especially Secor and Braugher's work.
Put puppy mills out of business: never buy dogs from pet shops!
