I'm probably not the only person to have noticed this, but I think I'm the first to bring it up on this board.
Have you noticed that Kristy has (by my count) played a lesbian or bisexual character three times (four if you count playing the same character twice)? I find that extremely interesting. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it is unusual: there've been plenty of cases where a LGBT actor has played straight roles, but I've never heard of any straight actor playing so many LGBT roles.
So does Kristy Swanson have an affinity for - or at least an interest in - American LGBT culture? I would guess that she does; after all, she was a guest at the 2008 Outfest. On the other hand, she also visited U.S. troops in Afghanistan for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago, along with a number of politically conservative celebrities. So I don't really know what to think.
Maybe I shouldn't be asking this question. But I want to try to get an answer, because I have been pro-gay rights for as long as I can remember, and I'm always interested to learn to what extent my favorite movie and TV stars share my views. -

Which movies are you talking about? I didn't know she'd played even one lesbian let alone three. I'm thinking she thought a role is a role & considering how the offers are few & far between the older an actress 1c84gets, she took what she could no matter what the content was.

She was bi in "Higher Learning"? It's been a while since I saw it but I didn't get that at all. I remember when she was raped by that idiot frat boy (who refused to put on a condom - she was good to go as long as he used protection but he wouldn't so she said no & he forced himself on her) but I don't remember her hooking up with any females. I know she & her black roommate kind of bonded when the roommate found out she was raped but I don't recall any sort of romance happening. But like I said, it was a long time ago when I saw it so I may have just forgotten the bi scenes.

i'm unable to answer your specific question and this isn't meant with any kind of disrespect but i'm not sure that attending a film festival or visiting troops is an indication as to a person's stance on homosexuality.
plus, relative to the number of roles kristy's played, three or four is a relatively low number. good on her if she does, but i don't think it's worth reading too much into. -

She has also played a born-again Christian and pastor's wife. I guess this balances out the other roles. Talk about range.
My Tae Kwon Do instructor tells me I'm just two moves away from becoming quite threatening! -

I wonder if she really is a born-again Christian. I haven't collected enough evidence to say for sure, but I'm starting to suspect it.
If she is, I hope she continues to keep a low profile about it. I am uncomfortable about born-again Christians. I am especially uncomfortable about a hypothetical born-again Christian who appeared in PLAYBOY, had drug and alcohol problems once upon a time, co-produced a film exploring fascination with sexual bondage, and appeared in plenty of movies that mocked traditional moral values. I'm not denying people the right to change - and I don't necessarily condemn any of the above, except for the substance-abuse issue - but most of us don't do any of those things and do not deserve to be lectured on them.
I admit my feelings are complex. I like Kristy, but I worry that she might have some qualities I can't stand. But even if she does, then as long as she kept that stuff out of her movies and TV programs, I think I'd be able to tolerate it. -

I doubt she's become a born-again Christian, she's simply having a much calmer and levelheaded lifesty5b4le after having a son. She's been playing "safer" roles lately, and for example her Christian-like films, "What If" and "A Christmas Wish", I actually found them not preachy at all unlike a lot of Christian movies out there which are unbearable. She doesn't strike me as a conservative person at all from interviews and such.
In any case, I like a lot of actors/actresses whom from what has been written of them, they looked like people you'd want to have nothing to do with and that doesn't affect the pleasure I have when watching them act.
