Was she ever offered the role of Buffy in the TV series?

I think Kristy was probably too old for the role when it came on TV. Kristy was already 22 when in the movie Buffy in 1992. By 1997 Krisy would have been 27 playing a high school girl suppose to be 16 then.

27 doesn't sound all that old, but when you consider BuffyTV ran for 7 seasons, if Kristy had been in the role, she'd have been 35 then playing a girl who was supposed to be about 21 or 22 y.o.
Also, I think when Joss Whedon took back control of his creation, I bet he wanted to start fresh and wipe away all traces of the film version which was more of a miss than a hit.
This is very hard to read, isn't it? -

I believe I read somewhere that she was asked to audition but didn't because she felt that she was too old to play the part.
As for career decisions, we all hit a point in our lives where we make the best decision that we can with the information that we have and it still turns out to be wrong. Tamlyn Tomita, when asked about not signing on for Babylon 5, said (paraphrased) that she didn't spend a lot of time with regrets on "what could have been". I imagine Kristy Swanson feels the same way. -

I do not remeber them ever mentioning her as a lead for Buffy in the series. I do know people wanted her and Luke Perry to make an appearance. There was a rumor that tge execs didn't want to do that because they wanted to keep the movie Buffy and the show Buffy seperate from each other which was stupid to me because the movie was the only reason why I started to watch the show to begin with.

They probably couldn't have afforded her anyway. Buffy the series started as a low budget show on an upstart network. Kristy was seen as a rising star doing movies at the time.
The age thing could be a problem too. She is 2 years older than Nicholas Brendon and 3 years older than Charisma Carpenter & Seth Green. Those three as high school students was already pushing it. -

Its common knowledge in the Buffyverse from the fans that they didn't offer her the role. Actually they wanted to stay as far away as possible from the corny movie. I read that Whedon himself was disapointed how the movie turned out and he never wanted this to be Buffy.
In all honesty i watched the movie because i am a huge fan of the show and tough it was god damned awfull
Not the fault of the actors, but of the beep script/plot and terrible special effects.
When you look at the background of the character in season 1, they do mention events that could be linked a bit to the movie but other parts are very different, so its more like they do not retkon anything from the movie but mostly just gave Buffy a similar background.
Alice is the worst character of all time, she need to die in the last movie. Chris/Jill are RE !!!
