I think Frank Whaley is totally distinctive-looking and you're all really stretching. Mark Wahlberg?? Cuba Gooding, Jr.?? ARE YOU NUTS?
If there were ever an actor who had looks and/or a persona similar to Frank's, it would be the young Mickey Rooney, when he was a huge star, #1 box office in his 20s, and married to Ava Gardner (among quite a few others through the years) Who'd think a freckle-faced man of only 5'2" could be such a babe-magnet?
Rooney's old movies from that era remind me SO much of Frank Whaley. The physical resemblance declined in later years, but he was fantastic in Rod Serling's brilliant "Requiem for a Heavyweight" when he was 50-ish. If you can get past the corniness of the Andy Hardy movies and watch what Rooney was doing, I think you'll see what I mean. It's a sweetness with a1c84 drop of underlying anger, and a shining intelligence in every "real" line he speaks (editing out the silly 40s stuff). Maybe "Boys' Town" is a better example of Mickey Rooney's quality (BTW, he's 92 and still working).
I didn't mean for this post to become a love-letter to Mickey Rooney, but I'm pretty sure Frank Whaley would take it as the compliment it's meant to be.

Could someone please explain to me nicely why "He looks like" is always one of the biggest comment sections in any actor's IMDB page? What is it about comparisons that are so popular? To me, most people 's suggestions don't click at all, as in Frank looks like Mark Walburg.
[insert any male actor under 59] MUST play The Joker in the next Batman. Or Captan America.

After watching the episode of The Blacklist he just appeared in, I have to say I kept thinking of Nate Ruess of Fun. They look alike.

I just finished watching a rerun of an episode of "Law and Order Special Victims
Unit" and I thought "how nice to see british actor max Beesley doing some
American television and doing a good american accent as well." Then, I come on
to IMDB and realize that it was not Max Beesely at all but Frank Whaley.
Frank Whaley really does look like Max Beesley. (Max currently has recurring
              role on USA's "Suits" series.)

I just watched The Conversion on The Outer Limits, and thought the whole time that he was Donnie Wahlberg.
I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.

Just watched Unforgettable. When I first saw him, I thought it was French Stewart. I do see the resemblance to Mark Walberg.
