Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Frank Whaley

This guy had oodles of potential as a young actor I first saw him as "Moonlight" Graham when he still had his whole life ahead of him. Years and years pass and nothing but crappy, menial roles that do nothing for him. A real waste. I saw him on some crappy show on UPN dressed in an animalistic uniform. Humiliating.

I agree, Frank Whaley is a hugely talented actor and he is completely underappreciated. He should have a huge career by now as an actor and a director as well. I have noticed that his movies have a great life on cable. I can usually find at least 2 movies on any given day that feature him.
You should check out the newly released edition of "Swimming with the Sharks". . . it features very funny commentary by Frank Whaley and the director, George Huang (w. sep commentary from Kevin Spacey).

I loved him in Swimming with Sharks and I thought he had talent but again actors rise and fall in a blink of an eye.

He's always been one of my favorites.

Waste of talent seems harsh. He's made some questionable choices, but there's plenty of really entertaining films on his resume. Maybe he's just looking to pay the bills, or he has some substance problem.
                  He is immensely likeable, though.

Naw, this is a waste. The guy really looks like he's been through the ringers lately. As others said, aged 30 in the last 10. He should've been at least 5th or 6th behind Broderick..

He's mainly a character actor and a darn good
one, though he's had the lead too and did well
in the Pursuit of Happiness (not the Will
Smith that everyone confuses with Frank
                      Whaley's!).
