Ohh man if she turned out to be a dyke that would just make my friggin' day. But yeah, none of our business. And it's quite impressive and admirable when a celeb manages to keep their personal life as private as this woman does.

I don't know why people get so worked up when others ask about actors personal lives. These actors have chosen to be in the public arena and while I don't think it's right to know every single fact about them, we're still allowed to be a little curious.

Hi Gingerr. I don't think anyone here is getting 'worked up' over your original question. I think we all just said that we didn't care one way or another. Except Kryssi, who said she'd love it if Dianne were gay. LOL These boards are the place to be curious.

i thought these message boards were for discussing actors, not replying WHY DO WE CARE?? to every question, especially about sexuality. i was actually wondering the same thing about her; that does not make me homophobic, only curious. it wouldn't change my opinion if someone were or were not gay.

I keep wondering, though why people do wonder? I mean I know curi111cosity and stuff, but we all agree it doesn't matter. I'm not judgeing anyone, I'm just really curious! It's funny how in recent years it's become a facination and a serious topic of discussion. Not just fans wondering about celebrities, in every corner of socialization. Not that I expect a full conversation about it here, just throwing it out to ponder.
Is it time for my medication or yours?

I think that people wonder simply because they are so emotionally invested in their favorite celebrities that they have to know, quite frankly, a whole lot that isn't their business. I've been a fan of Lily Tomlin's for a while-I love her Ernestine bits, still apropos today! And I had no idea, until I read about it in her bio, that she

gay! Wow, I had no idea-and still don't care! To be honest, the only thing that I'd be concerned about is that my favorite celebrity is happy. Not what their orientation is

Unless you feel that everybody should be like you and feel as you do, is that what you are saying?
OK, now that is just absolutely ridiculous. Where you got that silly idea is beyond me. The world would be a much saner place if they did, but I would get bored with so many clones of me running around I would be able to hold an intelligent conversation but not be able to debate with anyone because everyone would already know I'm right!

But that is what I cannot wrap my head around-why does it matter? Does someone's sexuality, etc., reflect in anyway on their worth as a human being or their performance in their chosen profession? Case in point; one of my all time favorite performers, Freddie Mercury, stated "I am as gay as a daffodil, my dear." Personally, I could care less-I loved his music and hate it when Queen tries to put another singer in there! Make sense yet? Help me understand

Why do we care anything about a celebrity's life? Why is everyone willing to talk about the most minute details of Britney Spears's latest hospitalization, or Heath Ledger's overdose, but whenever sexuality is brought up, there's a lot of hushing, shaming, and/or turning the question so it's about the asker?
I'm interested in knowing if Dianne Weist is a lesbian, because I am nosey. Same reason I read TMZ. Nothing more than that, and nothing less. -

Very true. There's a lot of curiosity about celebrities' personal lives and always has been. Gay, straight, bi, married, single, cat person, dog person, Democrat, Republican, vegetarian, carnivore, allergic to peanuts, etc., etc. interest in famous people and what they're "really" like is as old as the spoken word.

As a out lesbian and a writer and comedian, I find it comforting when stars come out. It makes me feel like if they can make it living out and proud I can too. I understand why some people keep it under wraps, it's not exactly sought after in this industry. But I applaud those who do come out and can't help but speculate about those who haven't or those who I suspect play for my team.
It helps that Dianne's a stone cold fox and that I've written a screenplay where she plays a closeted actress struggling with her sexuality.
Clearly I am bias. -

The question is whether she is gay or not and I was wondering the same thing as there is no mention of a relationship with any man.

Where does her privacy rights begin? If she doesn't speak about it then no, leave it alone. It's not my business, or yours, who she sleeps with. And I don't see how it affects her job one way or the other. I have always thought she is a fantastic actress and her sexuality has nothing to do with it. All we have the right to is her performance because we pay her to entertain us. Everything else is her business unless she decides to make it public. Just like gays in the military-sexuality shouldn't preclude service because one has nothing to do with the other.

I think a more valid point is why aren't they posts questioning if an actor is straight? No-one is asking questions if someone if heterosexual, as that is the accepted norm and what is expected of most people. Yet people DO care who they are connected with and how many partners they have etc. So why do we have to ask
"why should we care if an actor is gay or lesbian"?
Goes to show the rampant homophobia and hypocrisy of many even if veiled, and not seeing homosexuality on equal footing with heterosexuality.
