Unless you feel that everybody should be like you and feel as you do, is that what you are saying?
OK, now that is just absolutely ridiculous. Where you got that silly idea is beyond me. The world would be a much saner place if they did, but I would get bored with so many clones of me running around I would be able to hold an intelligent conversation but not be able to debate with anyone because everyone would already know I'm right!
it matters to some if not to you.
But that is what I cannot wrap my head around-why does it matter? Does someone's sexuality, etc., reflect in anyway on their worth as a human being or their performance in their chosen profession? Case in point; one of my all time favorite performers, Freddie Mercury, stated "I am as gay as a daffodil, my dear." Personally, I could care less-I loved his music and hate it when Queen tries to put another singer in there! Make sense yet? Help me understand

Why do we care anything about a celebrity's life? Why is everyone willing to talk about the most minute details of Britney Spears's latest hospitalization, or Heath Ledger's overdose, but whenever sexuality is brought up, there's a lot of hushing, shaming, and/or turning the question so it's about the asker?
I'm interested in knowing if Dianne Weist is a lesbian, because I am nosey. Same reason I read TMZ. Nothing more than that, and nothing less. -

Very true. There's a lot of curiosity about celebrities' personal lives and always has been. Gay, straight, bi, married, single, cat person, dog person, Democrat, Republican, vegetarian, carnivore, allergic to peanuts, etc., etc. interest in famous people and what they're "really" like is as old as the spoken word.

As a out lesbian and a writer and comedian, I find it comforting when stars come out. It makes me feel like if they can make it living out and proud I can too. I understand why some people keep it under wraps, it's not exactly sought after in this industry. But I applaud those who do come out and can't help but speculate about those who haven't or those who I suspect play for my team.
It helps that Dianne's a stone cold fox and that I've written a screenplay where she plays a closeted actress struggling with her sexuality.
Clearly I am bias. -

The question is whether she is gay or not and I was wondering the same thing as there is no mention of a relationship with any man.

Where does her privacy rights begin? If she doesn't speak about it then no, leave it alone. It's not my business, or yours, who she sleeps with. And I don't see how it affects her job one way or the other. I have always thought she is a fantastic actress and her sexuality has nothing to do with it. All we have the right to is her performance because we pay her to entertain us. Everything else is her business unless she decides to make it public. Just like gays in the military-sexuality shouldn't preclude service because one has nothing to do with the other.

I think a more valid point is why aren't they posts questioning if an actor is straight? No-one is asking questions if someone if heterosexual, as that is the accepted norm and what is expected of most people. Yet people DO care who they are connected with and how many partners they have etc. So why do we have to ask
"why should we care if an actor is gay or lesbian"?
Goes to show the rampant homophobia and hypocrisy of many even if veiled, and not seeing homosexuality on equal footing with heterosexuality.

I disagree. Asking the question of "is {so and so] straight?" is also irrelevant. I don't care. I don't want to know who is sleeping with whom, it is none of my business and I do not appreciate my limited, valuable leisure time to be taken up with tabloid bullstein. That is a huge reason on why I don't watch much TV anymore. It has truly become an idiot box. "Homophobia," an invalid, made up term. I have yet to see it in the DSM. "Hypocrisy?" How so? Or are you throwing out the standard knee jerk bullstein terms to strengthen your weak argument? Not trying to be nasty or anything, just wondering.

I do not care who or what the star of the movie sleeps with at night-not my business. If not caring one way or another about someone's sexual preference and/or not wasting my time on tabloid trash means you are going to pin an imaginary label on me (and you will regardless so it means less than nothing to me) go right ahead. ohjosephineyou're pretty funnyyou can tell that someone is terrified of lesbians by a posti think that the only reason there was 'gossip' about the men she's dated is because that has actually been documented, whereas there's been nothing documented (that I know of) about her dating a woman. I personally don't know Ms. Wiest, so I couldn't tell you whether she was lesbian or not. My previous point was that I don't care what her sexuality is. I'll watch her in anything, any time, no matter who she sleeps withbecause it just doesn't matter.
