Remember the first time Oprah got really really skinny? She looks like a crackhead in that photo. Agree?
I wouldn't go so far as to say she looked like a crackhead, but I do agree that she did not look at all healthy.
I was sure she was about to faint and she looked weak…I remember that she could hardly lift that bag of fat.
I remember being worried about her because I was sure she had an eating disorder.
Oprah spent way too much time being fat-shamed because of her low self-esteem.
I was glad and relieved to read in her book,
    What I Know for Sure
that she has stopped dieting and scale-watching.

      She's always been fat, though.

She looks like she's wearing a corset.

Well corsets don't suck in facial fat or in the arms or thighs.

You can't see her arms in both pics, and in the red carpet pic you posted you don't get a good look at her double chin. Plus those kinds of pics get touched up a lot, so she wouldn't look as bad anyway.
Wait… why am I talking about this?

We're discussing it because we're FRIENDS!
So anyway, your theory doesn't hold up for this photo of Oprah.

I’ll be a daredevil here by saying that I preferred the Oprah who had more width to her, as she didn’t look frayed around the edges; and she wasn’t shaped like lukewarm gelato after it melts. To be fair though, I might only be saying this just because I’m used to seeing the pudgy, upbeat looking women on television since she has more of a figure that matched her television personality. I don’t know though, since maybe the weight loss was more beneficial to her health than it looks, contrary to her looking frail and gaunt.

I love the fat Oprah way better.
I was very happy to read in her book
                    What I Know for Sure
that she had given up dieting and scale-watching and is now just trying to eat sensibly.
Yesss! I love her cute pudginess…it looks more natural on her, especially since she is not a young woman anymore.
I'm glad she has stopped allowing herself to be fat-shamed.
I actually think now she has more muscle and looks stronger now…I understand that she does a lot of hiking, yoga and random exercises at home to keep herself strong.
