I really don't buy into the Daily Mail's interview with Barbara Winfrey about how her stepdaughter treated her own family, but if its true in any variation that's downright nasty. "Negroes in the house?" That sounds like something that Baby Jane Hudson would yell across the hall while abusing her wheelchair bound sister Blanche. Of course, someone said that they didn't buy the "Negroes" part at all. She'd have been trying to make them feel "bad" - make them feel flat out "worthless." And THAT would have been about as affective as yelling "African Americans in the house! African Americans in the house!" We "know" what she "really" would have said. That's right, a word so horrible that we can only refer to it by its first letter. Of course, repulsive as it is, if anyone could add a sense of glamour and intrigue and sophistication and worldiness to it - as though it just rolled off the tongue, it would be Oprah.
