Another poster mentioned his part in the recent film "Safe House". Just watched it myself recently and it was so nice to see him again in a high profile film. I've always enjoyed his acting, and it's a shame he isn't in more films with a higher profile. Maybe that's how he likes it. But as a fan, I want more!

I find him often in high profile films and I don't know how "under rated he is but sadly he often dies. Dieing in movies is Ok by me. But after an actor does something repeatedly an astute student begins to notice. And notice I have. First I will lists what I have seen him in indicted which he has died in.
Devils Own (dies
Once Upon A time In Mexico (dies)
Safe House (dies)
All The Pretty Horses
Do The Right Thing
Devil In a Blue Dress
Of the movies recall seeing Mr Blades in, 50% of the time his character is killed off. Yet his characters do not seem to serve as canon fodder for the masses. His roles are often those of a calm man who brings a since of calmness to the screen. In America we tend to lump calmness and rational together but those are not always characteristics of his roles. In Devil's Own he played the role Of Eddie beside Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt. Eddie although a kind kinda cop is an unjust one. And in All The Pretty Horses he is gentle with Matt Damon's character but his indifference toward Damon's fate( as Damon does not show respect for the culture he is in) causes his role to become overshadowed with a sinister veneer not anticipated. Nonetheless Mr. blade characters seem to represent the common man with a heart. Who dies.
Finally in Safe House(his second time being teamed up with Denzel Washington)a new film that i will not spoilhis dies and this time he really is the common guy but as always with a questionable occupation.
