I thought he was great in Sideways. Can't wait to see him in SM3.

Hey Guggelman, perhaps his performance in Sideways was laughable because of his impecable timing and dead-on wit
You basically just said he's funny and I'm definitely not arguing that

I LOVE THCHe's the sexiest thing to hit the screen in decades! The voice, the walk, the face! He was great, awesome in Broken Trail, also hilarious in Sideways. I can't get enoughawesome testosterone!

Please see him in "Smart People".he is just great. I have always thought he is a great actor since first noticing him in "Wings" and later "Sideways". He is truly a gifted actor and personality. Keep up the good work Tom.

I saw him in Sideways and thought that it was a great performance. Look forward to seeing more movies where he stars.

                Peacecreep,
Did you see Sideways? Do you not think that he nailed his role? I came away thinking, either he's an awesome actor, or that role was perfectly and inextricably tailored to his personality.
Given that I've seen him in other performances, where he seems to have precious little in common with Jack, I'd say the odds are that he just nailed his performance. Which isn't to say that he nails every performance. Even Meryl Streep, Robert Deniro and Helen Hunt have their stinkers.

yeah, um if you've only seen him in George of the Jungle movies (you actually watched 2???!!!!!) you might want to reserve judgement

This idiot looks like ernest and I cant get past that. Everytime I look at his picture I just get annoyed, especially spiderman 3, he in no way was intimidating.

Even though your top post is 3.5 years old, the fact that you've seen George of the Jungle 1 & 2 alone speaks volumes about who you are as a movie watcher.
Everyone else above has given a fairly descent response in defense of THC's other performances.

^ Interesting Q&A here with him too, on his new film, DON MCKAY. Not a bad guy, IMO.

He was on the Bonnie Hunt Show and had a great tan and really long hair and looked AMAZING. Very handsome and he looked a lot younger than his 50 years. I also noticed that his bio doesn't mention any marriages. I wonder what's up with that, hmmmm?

His bio doesn't mention any marriages, because no girl can stand to be with him. He's very annoying and probably hard to get along with.

I've watched him since Wings as a kid. He was hilarious. Never watched George of the Jungle or Sideways. He was awesome in Broken Trail starring alongside Robert Duvall and did great in Spiderman 3 imo. It's just a matter of taste and opinion.

I love THC as an actor & i think you should watch more of his movies. THC has had oscar & emmy nominations & has also won a few awards for efforts. Check them out here on IMDb.
BTW you were meant to not like Lyle van de Groot.

wow. you shouldnt judge him from that one role. especially considering it was george of the jungle. but ya i dont care for him much either. but you should see him in spider-man 3 and even more so tombstone. tombstone is probably his best movie. spider-man 3 isnt a wonderful movie but he is good in it

I have always felt that I couldn't make such a judgement without first working with an actor. if you don't work with actors then you need to assess his skill with responsibility and see as much of his work as possible. You need to at least compare two or three characters; think what you'd feel about Streep or Hoffman if you only saw kramer v Kramer. You don't see the full picture until Silkwood, Sophies Choice, Papillon and Meet the Fockers.
Mr. Church is one of today's best character actors.
