I'm rating mine on a scale of 1 to 10 as a Fulci Film. Not compared to other movies which would usually be considered a 10 such as Star Wars or Indian Jones.
These are strictly rated as compared to other Fulci Films, so if The Beyond is a 10 then Demonia might be a 6. All my opinion of course

Contraband (1980) - 9/10 (Great crime film!)

Thanks for the reply. I saw House by the Cemetery years ago and remember hating it and so I've been very surprised how great Fulci's films actually are.

LOL! I can't tell you how great it is to have a serious discussion with people about film! Lynch and Kubrick are two of the geniuses of the medium. I just hate the fact that I'm going to have to buy the box set to get the new transfer of Full Metal Jacket. And, in my defense, I watched House by the Cemetery in an awful pan and scan version that was very poorly mastered. I think you know which company made it so I won't belabor the obvious. Here's a hintit sure as hell wasn't Blue Underground or Anchor Bayboth of these companies, along with Media Blasters/Shriek Show do a stunning job in their film transfers and extras. I hate paying $36 bucks on Amazon for the Anchor Bay edition of The Beyond, but I wouldn't watch it any other way, especially that awful Seven Doors of Death edition!

Blue Underground, Anchor Bay and Shriek Show are three of the very best DVD companies that I have ever known. Their transfers are excellent, the extras are bountiful and the packaging is top notch. The only, and I mean ONLY, complaint I have is directed at Anchor Bay and it is because they too often let their titles fall out of print. Now, this could be due to licensing rights so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. But I badly wanted Argento's Tenebre and it was out of print and so I had to pay forty dollars for it on Amazon. But that is a minor complaint because these companies are incredible.

Thanks so much for the heads up! Tenebre is my favorite Argento film and I'm kicking myself for paying $40.00 for it when it's now coming out again. Oh wellI'm going to buy this new edition just because of the transfer!

By the way, what are your favorite Ruggero Deodato films? I'm thinking about buying Cannibal Holocaust, Jungle Holocaust, House on the Edge of the Park ( I saw the preview for this on my Zombi 4: After Death disc and it is filled with gorgeous naked babes!), Cut and Run and Phantom of Death. Have you seen any of his films and what did you think?

YES! I have been waiting forever to get Phenomenon - that's excellent news! I managed to get a great copy of Tenebre at a little shop in B'more, but the only copy I have of the other is Creepers, and I can't even watch it.
To maryjeanand9others - Deodato certainly has a way of getting underneath your skin. I haven't seen Jungle Holocaust but I've watched the other two. Intense! -

LOL! I never made that connection but that's pretty funny. Let's just say that Argento's Phenomena is a much better film and leave it at that. I'm definitely putting Deodato on my list to buy from Amazon based on your recommendation. I love to be creeped out and he seems like just the guy to do it!

Well I haven't seen them all and I'm not sure of the order but I'll give this a go. I don't think he's ever made a '9' or a '10' movie but he was a pretty good director, esp. of horror,in the 70s and 80s. Since then he's made a fair bit of crap though!

I'll be honest; I can't say that I "enjoyed" Cannibal Holocaust or House By. . .it was more like the "Last House on the Left" experience, if you know what I mean. Pretty brutal. As a fan of the genre, I felt that I 'had' to give it a view! I did like the moral of Cannibal, so to speak. It made a good point. It'll stay with you for a bit, too.

Yeah I didn't enjoy CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST either but it's probably the best of the cannibal genre. The only other Deodato i've seen is LIVE LIKE A COP, DIE LIKE A MAN which was alright, not too violent and not as good as other eurocrime films imo (like Fulci's CONTRABAND).
