It is great seeing her on television again (last summer). My boyfriend likes this show and when I saw her I said, "Wow, Sharon Gless it's been ages since I seen her on tv." He asked where I knew her from and I said "Cagney and Lacey" some 20 years ago. He just looked at me like I was from Mars or something because he never heard of it. LOL!

Rtolini, your post was funny! You should take the opportunity to introduce your boyfriend to Cagney & Lacey. 🙂

You're right I should buy the DVD set and duck tape him to the couch and have him watch all the episodes. It would definitely educate and enlighten him on what was good television back then.

Until I saw her in a picture of Burn Notice right now I didn't know she was the same women from Nip/tuck. I had totally gotten what the mother looked outta my since it's been like 8 months since the show but man, she played one insane scary women on Nip/Tuck, in Notice, she's just the mom.

I love women who smoke cigarettes.
I would bang the hell out of SG, if she kept that cigarette in her mouth

I have been watching BN since it started and took a break when my personal DVR crashed 1.5 years ago. I thought she was a great highlight of the show.
After I recently discovered Hulu, I just watched the episode, and she was great in it. She still makes me laugh. That part about her waving a cigarette around while she practiced stealing the info from a laptop and "Bruce" telling her not to do that. Then she took back his beer that she had given him. Hilarious.
Do you hear that, Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability.

OK, this is just a fan letter.
Sharon Gless is MARVELOUS in Burn Notice!
She looks like a million bucks.
She is such a gifted actor.
Like most folks, I don't condone smoking (not a single da0friend or family member smokes; I'm never around cigarettes); but the way that Sharon Gless handles that "ciggie-poo" is genius! It is a terrific prop for her character. It works so well because of the perfectly manicured nails and the matchy-matchy earrings, and the [godawful] while pants, and the "perky" shirts. "Mother Weston" is a PERFECT specimen/remnant of the 60s. I've met some (unconscious but self-willed) women like her and her character is so rich it's always a treat.
Her relationship with her "son" (Michael) is perfect for this series. Love, pride, confusion, annoyance, impatience, frustration; always hoping for the best while anticipating the worst. She loves Michael but she would like to knock him upside the head and set him on a different career path; like any good mom.
Sharon Gless is just a terrific entertainer!

I just finished the entire series (which was great) and really enjoyed Madeline as well. The reason I started watching Burn Notice in the first place was b/c SG was in it and I wondered what this quirky spy show was about.
Loved the Cagney and Lacey reference, and when Tyne Daly guest starred in one episode, the Madeline character had a great scene at the end with Michael. That's the season SG was Emmy nominated, I think, and deservedly so, IMO.
Re Madeline's smoking - I don't know if SG smokes in real life, but the character she was playing did and since a lot of people do smok5b4e it's certainly realistic to see Madeline puffing away. She probably smoked as much as Sam drank, which Madeline pretty much pointed out to him in one episode.
