    True enough.
Just because a person did not marry does not mean that they are gay. But I think Romero was (at least according to most sources). I hope he had a happy life, he was such a good actor!

not that i care about this debate, i feel like half the posts on imdb these days are arguments between gay people and homophobes, but i think he was married actually (and did have at least one homosexual experience i know of).

I saw his biography on tv a few weeks ago and his brother said Cesar regretted not getting married during his lifetime. From what I saw and heard I don't think he was gay but it doesn't matter in the end. Nothing changes the fact that he was a talented gentleman that always worked to sustain his family and give them the best. I'm glad he was loved dearly by his family, friends, and fans. So swift on his feet, wish I was one of the girls he danced with. There's nothing but respect and admiration on my part for this marvelous legend that still to this day brings a smile to the faces of those that watch his movies.

For goodness sake , don't you people READ what's on this website ? It states clearly in the trivia about him that he gave an interview towards the end of his life about his experience as an openly closeted gay manthat means he was open to everyone in his circle of friends and family except the general public. The interview which is very funny and intelligent can be read in the book "Hollywood Gays"I'm sure you can buy it on amazon.com.
And as for the standard reply by heterosexuals that his sexual preference doesn't matter, well : it matters to us homosexuals, we like a few role models, we like a few inspiring stories..like you hetero's have been having left right and centre for the entire history of the movies mind you, some of my best friends are straight, I can well appreciate their funny ways..but please don't be so obvious will you ???

I support your idea of wanting da0to be inspired, but I wouldn't hold that book up as anything - take a look at the reviews on Amazon. The veracity of that book has been open to question for years. I interviewed one of the purported subjects and the interview in that book never took place.

being a gay man, I like to think of Sr. Romero as being gay. I guess he was just a private type of guy. I saw a biography on him and they said that he took exceptional care of his family. That counts more to me.

It was a very different era and Mr. Romero kept his sexuality to himself.

The fact that Romero's sexuality was always in question is what led to my curiosity about my relative's ring all these years (see question posted a few minutes ago). Why would Romero have a very large blue topaz and diamond ring of the type worn by Hollywood starlets in lavish musical productions in his estate? I hope someone on this board might have a clue.

Well I'd rather read Who's gay (and granted, it's beyond lame) than anymore "Looks like" posts. Those people who post those are truly intellectually stunted.

How does living in the closet all of his life make him positive gay role model? The only evidence we have of him being gay was a book that was published after his death.

Its bit difficult to be a positive gay model in an era when homosexuality was illegal and definitely frowned upon.
Romero gave an interview about his private life on the understanding that it would be published after his death.
                                        Its that man again!!
