Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Cesar Romero

    stutew — 21 years ago(February 11, 2005 07:47 PM)

It was around 1970 or '71. I could find out for sure because my mom still has the picture (and it's probably dated in the photo album)! He opened/attached his name to a chain of clothing stores (men's suits) and he was at the grand opening for the store in Escondido, CA. I think I was a fan of his from the movie Latitude Zero as well as of course The Joker so wanted to see him. My mom took me and my brother and my grandma. He was very gracious and friendly and posed for pictures with us (well he was there to open a business and hopefully make money!). A very memorable experience for a kid

Cool story, stutew. I wish you could find the photo you referred to and post it on here.
Cesar Romero on Batman truly an all-time classic TV character. Excellent. And a great actor in all of his other many roles. May he rest in peace. KH.

I knew a nice lady in her 70's (and this was about 8 years ago) who back in the 1970's was flying home from visiting family in florida to nyc and she became ill on the flight. There was a man in the seat across from her who comforted her and made sure that she got attention from the flight attendants. He stayed with her the whole flight and when they landed he helped her to her waiting husband who took her to the hospital. She didn't even know who he was and when she asked someone at the airport they said, "That was Cesar Romero, the actor" and she never saw his movies or anything! A few days later she got a call fom him and flowers. He wanted to know if she was better. She said she has been a fan of his ever since!

              I met him, too!
Late 1991 or early 1992, I was at a local cable TV office helping to arrange service for an Aunt and Uncle. Mr Romero was there on a round of personal appearances promoting a new cable channel specializing in classic movies. (An excellent choice, given his remarkable array of roles.)
Mr Romero was shaking hands with the office staff and giving them that warm, charming smile of his. Since they were expecting him, they were as impeccably dressed as he was. Since I was taking a break from yard work to drive my Aunt to the cable office, I was in t-shirt, shorts, sneakers and looking every bit that I'd been digging up the garden. In spite of my appearance, I, too, got a handshake and a warm, gracious smile. Every bit the gentleman.

, Mr Romero. You are missed.

Saw him last saturday in a barber shop shaving off his mustache. I asked him for an autograph but he declined and said nothing. Jerk!

Seeing as he's been DEAD since 1994, I somehow doubt that you met him. Grow UP.
