I've always wondered if he was a good Joker, was he as good as Nicholson?

          Apples and oranges.
I'd say that Romero's portrayal was closer to the old comic books and5b4 much in keeping with the tone of the old TV show.
However, I'm all too well aware that the source material has never before stopped Hollywood from getting entirely too "creative" with a character or with an entire story.

Some mad journalist once wrote that Nicholson "made everybody forget that skinny little guy in the TV series."
Stupid cow confused Romero with Frank Gorshin who played "The Riddler."
At 6'2" Romero standing next to Nicholson would look like Muhammed Ali standing next to Johnny Carson.

i stumbled onto his work by watching batman.
i think he is utterly fantastic, i still need to see oceans eleven though.

In "Ocean's Eleven" he towers over Mr. Sinatra and Mr. Martin, and you realize they're both really short or he's tall depending on your point of view in height, and he's very good in the film for the few brief scenes he has in it.
Movies will mab68ke you famous; Television will make you rich; But theatre will make you good.

Romero was the ONLY Joker! He was great in everything and a hell of a nice guy from what I hear. I wish there was a fan site for him.

Mr. Romero originated the role, so that fact alone must've made it tougher than Nicholson, whose make-up budget likely exceeded the cost of several episodes of the series. I'm not knocking Nicholson's interpretation, but Mr. Romero provided the foundation.

I've only seen him in a few Shirley Temple films and in "Julia Misbehaves". Can't wait to see "Weekend In Havana". Great actor indeed.

Who but Romero could steal an entire movie with only two brief scenes?
                                        Hot Millions
                                        (1968)
                                        Peter Ustinov
                                        Maggie Smith
                                        Karl Malden
                                        Bob Newhart
When Ustinov and Smith were escaping Britain with their embezzled millions, he was the customs inspector at the airport in Rio de Janeiro. He opened one case, saw all the neat stacks of money, marked everything OK, and told them, "Enjoy your stay in Brazil!" with the most wolfish grin.
Later, Malden and Newhart follow them to Rio and they, too, pass through his station. The injured pride and affronted dignity was a sight to behold when he took a jar of instant coffee from Malden's suitcase. "You're bringing
                                        instant coffee
to Brazil? I'm not going to dignify this by confiscating it!" And he made Malden open the jar and empty it into the trash bin.
