she's the reason why people shouldn't be racist

Italians and Germans are the same race. They're different nationalities but they're the same race.
I think a lot of the disagreement on this thread is coming from the misunderstanding of how various people are using the word race.
The original poster used the word incorrectly as shirin pointed out, it should have been Ethnicity.
The responses that break race into three groups are using it correctly in the sense of forensic anthropology. According to racial theory (which has mostly gone out the scientific window) there are three races of people. Caucasoid, Negroid, and Mongoloid. This being based primarily on skull shape not skin color. These classifications aren't used much anymore except in forensics when determining the identity of skeletal remains.
This is what Shirin was saying. both Swedes and Persians are Caucasoid therefore they're the same race.5b4 Just like Indians, Iranians, Germans, and Brazilians are all the same race. All are completely different ethnicities with different skin tones, but all share the same Caucasoid skull structure.
However, racism doesn't use race this way. Racism is based primarily on ethnicity and/or skin color. So the original poster was correct in this sense. -

Brazilians part of the same race as Indians and Germans? You are a beep moron.
Have you seen a Brazilian before? Do you know their genetic make-up? Majority are part African, part Caucasian and part Amerindian. And then again, there are some that are purely African, and some that are part African part Amerindian, or part Amerindian and part Caucasian or any combination of the above. Stop spouting your ignorance you uneducated dunce. -

uhm yeah i have seen plenty of Brazilians. I stand by what i said.
Go read it again. And then again. Until you pick up the part where that example had to do with skull shape and not skin color.
Then go read up on what i was talking about. Craniofacial Anthropometry. read about how the caucasoid skull structure is one of the hardest to work with when it comes to figuring out skin color and nationality because there are just so many different skin tones that can easily have that skull shape. Read about how the science has become one of the least reliable tools in forensics because of our multicultural society.
Once you're finished falling off that high horse, then come call me uneducated. -

I know I'm WAY late to this post but just watched a movie with this beautiful woman in it so I looked her up. What he said is 100% accurate. Nationalities are not races. I'll stop beating the dead horse now.

Shirin You do not refer to people from the content of Asia as "oriental." It's racist! The people are called "Asian." Food, clothing and rugs are "oriental."
I'd like to see you go up to an African American and call them "colored." You'd probably get punched! Like, it was cool 60 years ago, but it's not politically correct anymore. Get current.
