Okay I feel really sorry for Christina Aguilera the night of the infamous 2003 , kiss, Briney-Madonna, Christina-Madonna kiss, I just feel like history would have been very different if the camera would not have gone to Justin Timberlake , I thought that was pointless, 1. it was a tribute to Madonna's iconic Like A Virgin 1984 performance, 2. It was supposed to be a mock wedding, 3. It was well rehearsed, 4. Christina was singing live and not Britney , 4. Yes Christina got a lot of publicity from that performance as well but seriously that cameraman had to go to Justin and it was not about him, it was about Britney, Madonna, and Christina, what do you all think ? PS I know this is really like old news but seriously.

Yes, but even if that hadn't happened, people wouldn't have been as shocked at Christina kissing Madonna than Britney doing it. Had Christina done that
before
the Dirrty video, it would be a different story. Britney certainly wasn't innocent, but her image hadn't gone as far as Christina's at that point.

I was 23 when that happened. I'm sorry but the main reason why they showed Justin was because Brit and Justin had broken up. They were the Justin Bieber/ Selena Gomez of that time. Second, Christina already showed trashy behavior ( no disrespect) in her video "Dirty" so the kiss want a surprise. In contrast to Britney who was still trying to claim that v card. Even if they had showed Christina, it didn't make a difference because Madonna clearly favored Britney at that time. Plus Britney's image was a little more Sqweaky clean than Christina at that time. And she just broke up with one of the lead singer from a popular group, who was trying to start his own solo career. The media would have been really stupid not to get that shot of Justin's reaction to that kiss at that time.

Not all the media. Honestly, I remember quite a lot of the media focusing on all three. Britney's kiss with Madonna's just got slightly more attention, mostly cause she was still seen as "slightly more innocent" than Christina. Her "Dirrty" era seemed to outdo Britney's "I'm A Slave For You" era.

Semi-off topic, but I actually love that Christina didn't get much (if any at all) attention from that, and also the fact that she doesn't get much attention from the mainstream media period in comparison to Britney; it all weirdly makes me appreciate her all the more.
I think internet personality The Nostalgia Chick's thoughts pretty much sum up why:

Ironically despite Christina's Xtina antics I feel like in the end she's the more respectable artist over Britney. -
