Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Lisa Nicole Carson

in ally mcbeal renee was the strong feisty character who helped ally with her emotional/mental problems - what with the hallucinations etc surely bordered on schizophrenia?? so then to find out that in 'real life' lisa has been diagnosed with schizophrenia was so shocking and very sad. i hope she is being well looked after by family & friends and i wish her health & happiness. she was such a forceful personality and with her 'all woman' figure made the likes of skinny calista look like a 12 year old boy on ally mcbeal. lets not forget her wonderful soulful voice!! mental illness has robbed lisa and us of a star.

I worked in mental health and can tell you that schizophrenia can be managed. It won't go away but with meds, support, lifestyle changes people can get on top of it.
Whether that means someone can return to acting or any previous level of functioning is another question. There is a good chance that they won't be able to handle the level of stress that they once did. Avoid street drugs and alcohol is of huge importance.
Perhaps we haven't seen the last of this talented woman. I hope not, but I'll also hope that she can at least manage her life once again.

Why hasn't anyone corrected this post? A bit of misinformation has the potential to do a lot of harm. The diagnosis was not schizophrenia, but bipolar disorder, which is common and very manageable. The treatment doesn't have to put an end one's creative life. I look forward to seeing Nicole return to the screen whenever she's ready to do so.

It is sad. She was amazing in Eve's Bayou and in Love Jones in small roles and She always made Ally McBeal more fun. I hope she can get it under control and come back to us.

She could have took some small roles after a little break, but I guess she just simply just doesn't like the expense of Hollywood, and I'm glad she discovered that before it destroyed her and dug her too deep to go back (Britney Spears?).

I have been watching Season 1 of Ally McBeal. I was watching the episode entitled, "The Dirty Joke," and Lisa/Renee was captivating, engaging, charasmatic, funny and so real! I really enjoyed the chemistry between her character and that of Calista Flockhart. I hope she is doing well wherever she is, and I would love to see her speak out on what she has gone through battling mental illness. I am surprised that she has not written a book about her life I would love to read about her life before, during and after Ally Beal. As a side note: While the networks parade all these no talent reality "stars" before us day in and day out, why doesn't someone create a, "Where are They Now?" show and find Lisa so we can catch up? I'm just saying. Dear God, please keep a hedge of protection around this woman, Lisa Nicole Carson, clear her mind and let her enjoy greater success in her future than she did in her past. In Jesus Name. AMEN! and THANK YOU!

I miss her acting as well as her talent and presence. The reason we are inundated with reality stars is that they are as cheap as they come across on screen. I'm ready for a return of talent and especially Ms. Carson's. I read her
