Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Billy Ray Cyrus

If you want to follow a very limited definition of an act that has exactly one song on Billboard's Top 40 then yes that's very hard to argue. However, following a very narrow definition such as this allows quite a few very well-known, long respected artists to fall through the cracks. The real idea being conveyed by the term is the tendency of many, many artists to completely disappear from public view after a relatively short period of intense fame. Billy Ray Cyrus does not fit that profile.
By following the narrow definition these artists are also one-hit wonders
    Garth Brooks
    Jimmy Hendrix
    Janis Joplin
    Queen Latifah
    Rush
    Randy Travis
    The White Stripes
    The Grateful Dead

In case you missed it, he DID disappear from public view after a relatively short period of intense fame (he just had more than one song in that time). He got famous again riding the wave of his daughter, who, with her father's help, has become just as trashy as him.
Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense.
