        A) He's not particularly that good looking. Average at best.
        B) Short @ 5'3". On-camera makes you look like a midget compared to those who are not even considered tall (5'8" ish) That was fine for MWC time, but in a standalone career it's a death kiss.
        C) Not a particularly great actor. Passable, but nothing more. Does sarcastic lines best but again, this wont help a standalone career.
        D) Too well known as Bud. Typecast.

He's a very good actor, he just got type cast and he's short and young looking. It happens to a lot of child actors.
But I'm watching his "starving" series right now and it's really funny, he's got talent, he just has a limited range of what he can play because of his appearance. He'll never be a leading man but he is great as the sleazy friend type.
Watching his show and seeing all the Bundy's together again is great. If you grew up in the late 80's -early 90's like I did you know that show was it. My dad and I used to watch it together every Sunday. Probably my all time favorite sitcom and I still watch it and laugh.
God bless Dave for getting everyone together again after all these years and hopefully he lands a role that plays to his strengths.

"Passable, but nothing more." Nah, his timing was first-rate, and his physical comedy (including ridiculous mugging, a la say Will Ferrell) was solid. Far more range than the typical TV sitcom actor.

Im not understanding the typecast thing. Married With Children wasn't just about Faustino. Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate had alot more focus on them when they were on the show. Even Amanda Bearse had more screen time and she went on to be a successful sitcom director (Girlfriends, Dharma & Greg, Reba, Mad TV, etc). If anything, I'd think Ed would have been typecast more than any of them but time and time again he's found good tv and character movie roles.
I think Faustino just doesn't have a good agent and probably not as talented as the others. You'd think his co-stars would at least thrown him a bone or something.

Katey Sagal is perfect for playing the "mother" character, appearance, age etc. So it wasn't too much trouble to launch a second career after MWC. She also has a particular voice tone, which probably helped her to get Futurama.
Christina Applegate is not a good actress, her performances are barely acceptable, but she was (and still is) VERY good looking. Being a dream for a whole generation of men is enough to continue a TV career, but she'll never be a movie star, being an occasionnal sidekick is the best she'll get in the movie industry.
Ed O'Neill had a hard time to come back. When the show ended he was too old to play the father, to young for the elder, too strong to play the average guy, too weak to play the strong guy etc. He wasn't easely castable. He was perfect (and still is in my opinion) to play business men, bad guies or cops but he was too associated to Al Bundy. But after a few failings it seems he's coming back and it's deserved, he's a great actor.
Faustino has nothing, no talent. He just was lucky to get MWC. All he can do now is using his former celebrity to get occasional parts on TV shows. Even with the greatest agent he would be limited to this.

Christina Applegate is quite good comedic actress, and IMO women will find jobs easier, than men with equal amount of talent. There are just so many comedy roles out there for men, and more men competing for them. And she is a easy choice as the sidekick role for the lead actress.

Applegate is a good actress. She hit the right tone throughout in Just Visiting, comedically and dramatically, and she held her own with the others in the first Anchorman.
"[Faustino] just was lucky to get MWC." I consider myself lucky that Faustino was on MWC, same way I do with Bearse, etc. Half of what keeps me from changing the channel when it's a Kelly and Bud scene or a Marcy and Bud scene is Faustino's talent.

I think it has more to do with the reason child actors are hired. They're often needed to be cute or precocious or just to fill out a family. Faustino was hired to be precocious obviously while Applegate was seen as a cute teen who would fill out nicely into a hot teen daughter. Her acting wasn't that special but no one was tuning in to see her for her acting. Once Faustino's "cute kid" schtick wore thin and he failed to grow taller, his usefulness declined even during the show's run. If he turned out to be a buff teenager, he might have gotten a larger fan base and a few tv roles on WB/UPN after MWC was over but he still looks like a little twerp even as an adult.

The fact that none of them did leads me to believe he had some ego problems on MWC that caused them all to stay away from him once the show ended. Ed O'Neil even made a surprise visit to Christina Applegate's set on the first filming of her new show.

wow didn't realize i made a thread here
Considering he was such an Icon in the 80s/90s in the sitcom world especially for the youth
you would think he would have his own sitcom now to capitalize on that since the youth of that era aren't out partying now but rather sitting at home with their wives/girlfriends watching sitcoms
Just like Ed O'Neil and Modern Family; hell Ed O Neil should get David a part on Modern Family maybe as a controversial Nephew cousin to Claire and Mitchell
                            that would be awesome actually

Disagree with your "youth of that time aren't out partying" statement. I think that's relative, but I do agree that "Bud" should have easily capitalized off his success as such a popular child star. He made some bad decisions (i.e. appearing in the 'whoop there it is' video) but he's talented- anyone who says otherwise has never acted before. It does take talent to have comedic timing, and his is right on point. He probably just had a bad agent

It's really hard for "kid" actors they either make it or flop there is no in between. Most of them flop. For example Angus T. Jones is bound to flop unless he gets a role that puts him on the map right away. Someone like Angus i suspect to see in the papers dead by O.D before he hits 30. The longer you have nothing going on after a big hit the worse it gets. You'll always be known as the "character" from the old success. That is the death of your career.
As for Ed yeah, he hasn't been the most lucky guy but i am sure he'll get through. Katey has already bounced many times - she is awesome in SoA.
I can't really comment on Christina but i've seen her around in some comedies. She doesn't have her "good" looks as she did when younger. But that has not stopped her. Her age is getting noticeable as well. Not a flop but not a great success either.
As for Faustino - what can i say he wasn't very good in MVC. It's like Seinfeld and Jason Alexander once outside the show people see what they already know, they aren't that great actors.
Of course it all falls flat the second they don't get right back on the horse. They need to "reinvent" themselves or their career is over. At best they can live on the character they played but it's basically down to drugs and/or alcohol.
I am not saying that some kid actors16d0 MAY become famous once they get older but it does not happen very often. The label "known as" is very hard to get rid of.

Folks HE'S SHORT. There are about two male actors as short as Faustino who have had major acting careers, DeVito and Dudley Moore.
