    Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — June Foray

    makeminegreen — 18 years ago(July 03, 2007 10:35 AM)

    In the early '90s, after a Rocky & Bullwinkle retrospective that included live script readings by special guest June Foray and other voice talents, I had the good fortune to attend a small dinner for Foray and the guy who voiced Bullwinkle in Bill Scott's absence (Will Ryan, maybe?) and ended up sitting between them at the table. All through the dinner, I heard about 1000 characters in my right ear (Bullwinkle et al) but only a single voice to my left: June Foray. She was warm and funny, and perfectly content to sit back, be herself and let others provide the entertainment.
    Truly one of my favorite celebrity moments. June, wherever you are, you're my hero!

      Good evening;
      When the "The Pogo Special Bir2000thday Special" was broadcast in 1969, June came back to Springfield, MA for a visit.
      I got to meet her at a family gathering, as she is my paternal grandfather Harold's niece; his sister Ida was her mother.
      To this day I remember her as gracious, witty and genuinely warm. "Tis a family anecdote I relate from time to time.

        This is gonna sound weird but 'piparskegg' is Icelandic for 'Pepperbeard' so I was wondering if you had any connection with Iceland?

          I didn't get to have dinner with Ms Foray, but I did get to hear her at a conference at Calif. State University Long Beach. Dr. Johnson, who was head of the Instructional Media Dept., set up a mini-conference every year for a while. I attended the weekend conference a couple of years, and just by chance I was lucky enough to hear Ms Foray speak. Being a fan, it was a thrill that I won't ever forget.
