It's unfortunate that you say you have experienced it in other countries because I had always thought that most other countries were a little more mature and tolerant and that is because of the way blacks in particular are treated. Why does Tina Turner prefer Europe to the US? Why did Josephine Baker? The US has never been open minded or accepting of everyone so celebs will often mov2000e to Europe, and it's unfortunate that people must become citizens of other countries to be able enjoy life a little bit more
However now that I think about it I am a little less surprised. A few months ago a friend of mine had some friends visit who were from Germany and we began talking about a number of things. When asked where I lived I began to reply then I was asked: "You live in the projects don't you?" as if that's where all of us [blacks] live and she thought she had answered her own question. It pissed me off but I just passed it off as their ignorance as I explained to them that all blacks don't live in the projects just like all whites don't live in trailer parks.
I don't understand why we do it to each other either It must be ignorance.
Ewww,

I am tri-racial(latino,native american and white) and i idenify myself as latino. if people ask my race then i say latino. Its funny thlugh because i do get offended when people seem to deny a part of themselves. When halle berry won the oscar and said she was proud the be the "first black woman" to win an oscar i was pissed. She was raised by her white mother, who most likely had to struggle a lot to raise her. I do agree that a lot of ignorant people will look at her and jsut see a black girl, but i still think it was un-fair for her to say that. Her mother may not know what its like to be a minority but she had a relationship with a african american man and had a bi-racial child, was that easy? im guessing not.

People aren't being "ignorant" for seeing Halle as a black girl. People see her as a black girl because she LOOKS like a black girl. Most people would never guess that she has a white mother because Halle looks like the average black women. She does NOT look biracial at all. -

Even if white people have shunned her black heritage, isn't her black side kind of shunning her own white heritage? I mean, who cares who has looked down on you for being a bi-racial woman, you are half white and black, regardless of who is too racist to validate it.

ok honey.
im white.
and i wouldnt not accept her calling herself white.
but #1
shes not white.
and #2 shes not black.
shes BI racial.
why cant she call herself that?
i wouldnt care if she called herself white.
black.
mexican.
mixed.
hell idc what she calls herself.
why do people always have somethin to say about color.
yet youre the first ones to judge white people.
not all white people are like that.
some are.
but some black people are like that too.
so dont judge me.
you dont want to be judged.
and neither do i.
now on the subject.
maybe she does it because she has the majority of black in her.
like tia and tamera
they are half white and half black but say theyre black.
i think also in hollywood when youre biracial you can work in both industries.
you can be in black shows.
and white shows.black shows as in more black people. white shows as in more white ppl
Maria Carey is biracial but she looks more white than black.
i think also people call her black more so than white.

She is a Black/African American..that is her ethnic group. It has nothing to do with biology, she and everyone else knows that not all her ancestors were African, but what does that have to do with HER ethnic group???
