I agree with miss thang in one thing, Felicity had the best performance, and i did see all the movies nominated, her performance rocked, Felicitty IS an ACTRESS.
Come on, "she learnt how to sing, and play"also Meryl streep has learnt to sing and play instruments in different movies and she did not win an oscar beacuase of that right?
I think, Reese is a good actress, but she did not delivered a fantastic performance in that movie, Joaquin pHoenix did it betteR, Her performance was overrated by the media and some "so called critics", but lets be honest, Felicitty deserved that award because of QUALITY of her performance.

Why are we still discussing this? it happened four years ago, get over it. Reese won, Felicity didnt, what happened happened. Its pointless to discuss it now. its not like its gonna change everything!
And by the way, Reese was the clear favourite to win. She won GG, BAFTA, SAG and every other award out there. It wouldve been a great upset if she didnt won the Oscar.

I don't quite understand your argument. It doesn't get more popular than Desperate Housewives.

              Whose argument? Mine??
I was just saying that it wasnt a surprise that Reese won, since she previously won GG, SAG and a million other awards for her role. So it was only naturally that she would win a Oscar aswell.
So it really isnt important if DH was big at the time, the one with the most awards is the winner.
And personally I think that Reese was the best that year, Felicity was amazing aswell but Reese was slightly better.

Has anyone thought that maybe it was the "controversial" nature of her role that lost her the awards? Not every member of the academy is open-minded about homosexuality or transgenderism.

Been thinking this for years. Huffman got hosed out of the Best Actress Oscar that year!

Felicity was robbed she carried an entire movie, was a true lead, and delivered a 5b4brilliant performance in "Transamerica". Reese's role was supporting in "Walk the Line" and she should have won Best Supporting Actress and been placed in the correct category. "Walk the Line" was a Johnny Cash Biopic.

She really did give the best performance and the Oscars are indeed a popularity contest, which explains why Rees2000e, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock all have Oscars they didn't deserve.

I thought women who act wanted to be called Actors, because Actress supposedly implies some kind of second class status. Why do we even have a best actress award if actress is such an insult? Could it be female hypocracy?
