Let's discuss DIG and Jason as Peter Connelly. It seems he turned off a lot of people with the attraction/affair with Emma, the woman who looked like his ? Dead daughter, Vicki.
I had a chance to directly ask him about how he would defend this and his answer was:
There is none(argument). Grief and lust and confusion reign.
He doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

Just NOW seeing this, Char (I'm on imdb.com tonight for other reasons, and popped in to see what new things were on Jason's work projects listsspecifically the new horror movie he talked about at the Critics' Choice Awards interviewit's not been uploaded yet). Wish I'd have seen this post from you sooner; I'd have responded

This actually didn't freak me out like it did other people. I understand why it would freak some people out, and yetI don't know. Lots of psychotherapists will tell you many people tend to look for people similar to one or both of their parents, subconsciously (I, for example, married a man very similar in temperment to my dad). Maybe it was a subconscious need to be close to his daughter. If people watch closely, when Emma goes to kiss him (in the cave pool), he's freaked out by it16d0. Later, after all hell's broke loose, I think he's just sort of doing what the lost and broken tend to sort of just do: stupid stuff that breaks them further. I didn't question it really when Peter and Emma eventually did the inevitable, given who and how and what his character was and had been dealing with it just seemed like: okay. And now he's gone and done THAT. It seemed like a very human thing/mistake/whatever you want to call it, for someone like Peter Connelly.
I do agree with what Jason said, now having seen the whole series. Peter didn't know what the hell he was doing half the time. He was one glorious, hot mess. I so miss him on my screen every Thursday. I liked it, too.
