Hmmm, I always figured Hook was probably bipolar ( manic depressive) also given to violent mood swings and bizarre behavior. At least those are my thoughts on the matter. And I agree, Jason is the ultimate Captain Hook.
    Edward
(also bipolar and mood-swingy but not wait a minute. Let's just have a look here and make sure Nope, definitely not a woman)

I absolutely loved his Captain Hook. He is the difinitive Hook for me. He was suave & viscious, seductive & brutal, childish & deadly - absolutely masterful performance and then he went and also played Mr. Darling, another nuanced & vitally important element in the same film. The man's a genius (and surprisingly good at swordfighting with his left hand luckily)!
I've been a big fan of his since first properly noticing him in Event Horizon (must be about 15 years ago now) but I'm sure I'd seen him about in other things (Capital City & Civvies I think) prior to that. His range of projects & characters is constantly changing from a blinding performance as Harry Corbett in The Curse of Steptoe, to a U.S. show (Brotherhood)that I have little chance of ever seeing, to Green Zone in the last couple of years alone. I can always guarantee that JI will be worth watching in whatever he does and although he doesn't seem picky about the types of roles or the medium of the project, if he's in it I can be sure it's going to at least be worth a watch/listen.

              I agree.
I was always a little disappointed in other Hook portrayals, their Hook wasn't dangerous, just clumsy.
Isaacs got the "never more sinister than when he was most polite" vibe directly from the book, also seemed like he could be very very dangerous, and yet a coward when the croc came.
Great job, but then again, when ever I see his name on something, I'm suprised it's him because he's well into the character.

He was perfect as Hook, his portrayal was the only time I have seen the character done justice. He managed to capture Hook's immensely complex personality, and made him as pitiable as he was sinister. Not that this is strictly relevant, but he was also sexy as hell.
Impaled on my Nobel Peace Prize- how ironic.

His Captain Hook was utterly awesome and made me fangirl like an idiot.

No problem lol. I feel the movie is severely underappreciated.
As for Jason, he's been solid in every role I've seen so far, but his take on Captain Hook was truly perfect.
