I just saw the film and came on here to start the same topic, haha yeah, you're totally right. And I've never even heard of her, never having seen Mad Men my peers, with whom I saw the screening, said she's equally as bad in Mad Men. I heard she's a total 'bitty' too.
But hey, she looks good in the film at least. -

I have never seen Mad Men, but I came here to say that her acting was atrocious in X-Men: First Class. I still give the movie high marks, she did not ruin it, but damn, her character needed someone with more gravitas. She was just wrong for the role. She wasn't the cool type of cold the Emma Frost character needed. She had no sex appeal. She was just wrong.

I think her Emmy nom came because January Jones was largely unheard of before Mad Men. People assumed her acting prowess allowed her to fit Betty Draper, when in actuality, she plays Betty Draper in every movie she acts in, including X-Men

Huh? She got nominated because Emmy members voted for her. That's how award nominations work.
Yeah, but people thought Michelle Rodriguez was great actress for her debut role in GirlFight, then realized she was an actress of limited range when she kept playing the same role again and again. The same thing is happening with Jones. -

You can easily get an acting nomination for playing yourself. So, as she plays a pretty but blank character on Mad Men, she's apparently playing herself. She was AWFUL in Unknown and X-Men: First Class. Casting directors need to stop thinking with their boners. Hopefully she'll go away soon.
