Um, hi, I'm new to this board and just randomly ended up here. Anyway, I agree with the poster that if were any joe-blow then yeah, he would get arrested and serve a long time in jail or end up dead as soon as they end up in jail (my uncle works in a police department and tells me alot of times pedophiles end up getting killed in jail by other inmates). But R. Kelly gets away with it and he had serious evidence that proven or should've proven that he was guilty of sleeping with underage girls. However, I think it's wrong that ANY man that is older than 18 because they know better and the underage girls are incapable of making decisions, even when they consent, because they know they should not be having sex with older men, and some of them feel uncomfortable but do it for a slew of reasons that deal with self-esteem. And I am also aware that in other countries it is legal or okay for older men to sleep with underage girls, but (and I don't mean to sound as though I look down on those countries)this is the U.S. and our law is no sex with minors, and so anyone that violates that should be punished, celebrity or not.
But anyway back on R.Kelly, he got away with it because he is a celebrity and according to some unspoken law that celebrities are gods and they are always right and we normal folk are always wrong.

      Yeah.
You Americans are strange in that way, here in Sweden we treat our celebrity's harder then we treat regular people. In the US they get away with everything from murder to raping little girls, some even with pissing on the little girl.
Theres no moral outcry, theres no justice to be served. And even when sometimes something happens, like with Polanski, he just moves to France, continuing making movies that everybody goes and sees. (Probably he also continued molesting children).
Others are just slipping their "woody" to their stepdaughters on a regular basis without the public seeming to care.
R Kelly will probably go on with the molestation of little girls. And Americans will salute him by buying hes music.
Strange country, I have to visit one day.

Obviously some of you NEVER saw the tape. Even though I agree he used very poor judgement and as the adult should have never had sex with the girl.this girl was NOT RAPED..and NOT forced..and believe me..she was2000 NOT uncomfortable in any way. She was not your typical 14 year-oldand she performed like a PRO. She was VERY experienced!!! I think some things should be addressed about how this girl got like this.and it should be asked of her parents!!

Thank you Cheldove How many of you have ask where are the parents? None of you have said anything about the parents of this 14 year old . How is this young girl allowed to be with R. Kelly? What were they doing? I don't see a cd with her name on it. I fault the parentS in this situation. Look after your kids and know everything they are doing until they are old enough to live on their own. I tell my son you are going to do what I say until you leave my house and get your own house. Attack me if you will it is my opinion as a parent and a female. And by the way I do not like R. Kelly or his music. I think he goes back and forth from singing too perverted to singing about something real.

I agreein this this situation..the more important question is how did a 14 year-old girl get the experience of a hooker. Everybody is so quick to label Kelly as a pedofileand I think that is crazy.I still say he was wrong..but there are many young girls out therejust like this girl..who are getting exposed to sex.and getting a lot of experience at early ages. Why is nobody saying lock the parents up? In the case of Alliyah..although she was young..R.Kelly was in his mid- twenties himselfso that is a poor example to try to keep painting this man as a child molester. I know parents cant keep up with their kids every move.but most good parents don't allow their daughters to become sexual experienced as grown women either. This is not a classic case of child molestation..I'm sorry. R.Kelly is a sex freak..and we all know thiswhich is not a bad thing if thats what you like. But given that knowledgethis girl should not have even been allowed to be in his presence. I'd be willing to bet she lied to somebody about where she was really supposed to be..and it was her intention to screw the hell outta of the notorious R.Kelly .and she did it quite well!!! Like I said the real crime here is the raising of this young girland millions more like her that have poor excuses for parents.

              Yeah!
It was ALL the little girls fault. She seduced poor Kelly and FORCED him to piss on her. What was that? She's a pro? Yeah !!! She's a pro-hooker, a beep slut-biiaatch. She needs to be punished along with her no-good parents. The TRUE victim here are obviously R.Kelly.
Oi! cheldove you piece of crap, you should be registered along with Kelly, your opinions are giving you away.

You are a piece of crap as well for not being capable of comprehending my post, and for throwing insults. But back to the topicI never said it was ALL this girls fault, and I always started by saying Kelly was wrong, because he was the adult. The whole point of my post is there are some serious other issues here regarding the parenting of this girl. And still going on with many other young girls today. This girl was not innocent, but that is not to say I don't blame Kellyidiot!! I don't give a damn about R.Kelly. He is a grown man, and should have known better, but kids are different, and the real question is how do kids get in a position to even become this way? Some do, but most don't, if they are raised properly. They might still have sex, but with boys their own age; not 30+ year old men, and they are not so skillful either as this girl was. OK..I'm done responding to you. People who can't respond maturely to what I actually say, I don't continue with. You5b4 want to resort to insulting me, all because you are incapable of reading and comprehending, and getting the real point I was making. I do not condone what he did, I'm just saying the acts of the girl should be a bigger concern. And her parents should be ashamed, and obviously are most likely crap themselves, because as parents they NEVER pressed the issue, and most likely chose hush money over the well being of their own child, and the girl never came forward to support the claim she was victimized..which proves my point!!!

"Oh and, just because 14 is legal in some countries doesn't mean it's okay."
In some countries, teenage girls are forced into marriage with 30 and even 50 year olds. Whoever said because this kind of thing is legal in other countries, it's OK, is an idiot.
Off topic: I like some of R Kelly's music and he has a great voice. But his new stuff like Hair Braider is crap.

Well said. Too many fangirls/boys are willing to ignore the dark side of their chosen idol even though there are enough evidence that points to the idol being a pedophile, rapist, homophobe, liar, etc. The USA is a sick, celebrity obsessed nation. Disgusting.

Sweden's rape rate as well as statutory rape rate are WAY higher than the US.
And a 60 year old man in Sweden can have sex with a 15 year old child, boy or girl there legally, which is disgusting.

You're not the only one. R. Kelly is ranked in my list as the most hated artist ever. I Believe I Can Fly was great. Then I noticed what kind of music this beep sings, not to mention his messed up personal life. I recall watching one of his music videos and was disgusted by it. His vile use of sexual intercourse in one of his songs just proves what this guy is worth. Nothing. What a wasted talent. His voice is great, but everything else sucks.

I like some and I say SOME of R. Kelly's music, but ever since the whole 14 year old girl thing, I haven't bought one of his albums. I'm a man, I have 16 year old daughter and a five year old daughter, and I just can't condone what he did, nor can I put blinders on and pretend like it's okay. Consensual or not, do you want your child being in that situation? To be humiliated, to be pissed on like she has no value? R. Kelly deserves to have the book thrown at him for real. He needs a significant amount of jail time and he needs to be registered as a pedophile, because that's exactly who and what he is.
