do you know what a recessive allele is?
Cause it would answer the proposed situation you just created on how if your blood-uncle is bald for example, you still might go bald.

          There
          is
one type of baldness inherited from the mother's X-chromosome.
One other notion occurs to me: That great mane of hair is so closely associated with the "Joey" character he played on
          Blossom
that he's conciously trying to distance himself from that character in order to get offers to play other roles.
Reason: TV casting directors are so VERY timid about casting a performer as different
          types
of roles that actors like Mr Lawrence, who are capable of more than one character, have to get from one successful show to another by way of films requiring a drastic change of appearance. (Film casting not being
          quite
          so married to the notion
"he played this type so that's all we're going cast him as."
          )

Not in my family, all the men on my Mother's side have a great head of hair in their 60's and 70's, my father started losing his hair in his early 20's as has my brother.
I am a four eyed evil genius.

I believe that some kinds of baldness are caused by heredity and some are not.

I agree, it looks like he's only losing it in the back, I'm sure they can cover it up. He was my teencrush, I'm very sad. He should get hair plugs or something. I vote HAIR!!!

I know how the guy feels, but this website should explain EXACTLY why he shaves his head.

What's wrong with you? The hairline being visible doesn't mean that hair will grow to the normal length from it.
'Then' and 'than' are different words - stop confusing them.

I've never heard there is anything "risky" with today's technology hair transplantation (i.e., Bosley Hair Restoration). Do you know something I don't?

The only risk is a bad doctor. Judging by some of the faces you see in Hollywood, there is a lot of incompetence. I don't think Joey Lawrence is going bald and do believe it was for a role. He looks like Mr. Clean.

Hair system ala Bert Reynolds or William Shatner.
I always thought that "system" was called a toupee, a hairpiece, a wig, a rug, etc and some of Shatner's looked
                                        really
                                        bad.
As to Mr Lawrence's baldness, he may have shaved his head just because he wanted to or for a part in a movie and decided to keep it or, as I said earlier, to distance himself from the
                                        "Blossom"
show and the "Joey Russo" character with his magnificent mane.
I think he's trying to grow up as well as trying to grow as an actor. It's the casting people (and a few "fans") who wouldn't let him; they were still trying to cast him as the "teen heart-throb" character until he cut his hair.
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things,"
Of atoms, stars and nebulæ, of entropy and genes.
