Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Annie Lennox

    Nemesis0123 — 15 years ago(April 18, 2010 02:19 AM)

I was watching a Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame concert, and Annie Lennox came on stage with a black T-shirt with white letters saying, "HIV Positive." If you look at her IMDB pictures, there's actually a picture of her wearing that shirt from that event, standing next to Sting. Anyway, what I came here to find out is, is she indeed HIV positive, or she is wearing that for some other reason? No one on this board has said anything about her being HIV positive.

      She's wearing it ironically.

I think it kind of losses it's message after the way the phrase HIV positive was treated in south park a couple of years back.

It seems pretty patronising to me, but I don't care what she's wearing as long as she's performing preferably with Dave Stewart.

Dear God! I've got a red ribbon in my most treasured jacket and it's there because of the discrimination and downright tosh spouted about HIV plus it's claimed the lives of some of our most flamboyant and personable celebs. It's also a disease still stigmatised in many respects.
