I always thought that Gary and his sister were Jewish. However, his father's name sounds Italian. Not that there are no Jewish Italians. If his mother was Jewish he would be Jewish in the eyes of the Jewish community. Anyway, I think he is Jewish, but I don't know.
And I have no ideas about the drums.

Oh well, he is not Jewish. According to interviews about "Keeping up with the Steins" he is not Jewish. Apparently it is a common mistake.

His father was Italian Catholic and his mother was Protestant. I guess because of his NY accent, a lot of people think he's Jewish.

Garry Marshall was born Garry Kent Masciarelli in The Bronx on November 13, 1934. His father was of Italian descent and his mother was of German, English and Scottish ancestry. The family surname was changed by his father from "Masciarelli" to "Marshall" after Marshall's birth. Although baptized in the Presbyterian church, Marshall also attended a Lutheran church during his childhood.
