I totally agree. But I also like his comedy/dramas like Princess Diaries and Pretty Woman. The guy has a real grasp on how to tell a story full of heart. He's also fun to watch on screen.

He's not a great director and if looking at his filmography doesn't tell you why, then you have no clue to begin with. His films are mediocre at best. Overboard, Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride were probably his best romcoms and even they aren't so hot. He's behind garbage like Georgia Rule (possibly among Lohan's worst films) and the cheesy Princess Diaries movies.
He's not even a good judge of good filmmaking.
Anyone who would think Jason (the least talented of the 3 finalists) deserves to win 'On The Lot' definitely has some screws loose

If you're watching 'Fullscreen' DVDs, you aren't getting the whole picture.

Overboard and Pretty Woman aren't so hot? What planet are living on?
To you maybe not, but to a billion other people, they LOVE them, especially Overboard.

Let's face it he's a great simpleton who panders to his base.
              Good actor, though.

One of the best directors ever, like Bergman, Chaplin, Godard, Spielberg, Scorsese, etc? Errr, no.

I have always enjoyed Garry Marshall's films. If it wasn't for "The Princess Diaries" we wouldn't have Anne Hathaway success. She wouldn't have made "Love and Other Drugs" which was fantastic. I have found "Pretty Woman" and "Runaway Bride".
He might not be up to the success like Spielberg or Scorsese but can any of them be credited for bringing Robin Williams his success? Without Mork and Mindy Robin would still be on the stand up circuit instead of in our minds.
So I thank god that Mork and Mindy was created. And without Happy Days there would be no Ron Howard who has directed some major blockbusters in his time.

Sorry, but just because he is a family movie man director, does not mean he is great either. Only one gets to me that I like and that is "Pretty Women". The rest are not even mediocre and bad acting. Princess Diaries is not much even a family movie, just pure fantasy only. I am not much a fantasy or anything like that or even chick flicks. I try to avoid them even on dates.
I am a gore watching freak!!!
If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.
