Paul said that he was facing 7 years hard labor for marijuana possession in Japan, but in the end, he only served 9 days in jail. Was it his fame and fortune that helped him get a much lighter sentence? Would he have gotten a full sentence, if he had been a regular guy?
Oh, and please do not take this as a hate thread. I love Paul very much. Always have, and always will.

If I remember rightly, the official story is that after 9 days the Japanese authorities felt that Paul had learned his lesson and they decided he didn't need punishing further.

Also, I believed he was banned from touring Japan for a few years.

I wouldn't be surprised if Paul's wealth and fame and status as British royalty very much helped him get out of jail. You know the routine.
I'm just glad it was marijuana and not something gross like cocaine.
