wow, it makes me so sad to imagine the pain he must have went through because of his son's drug addiction and suicide. carroll brought so much laughter into mine and my families life, and then to have something like that happen to such a great person. my dad was a HUGE carroll/all in the family fan, and he died of cancer last year. some of my last memories were lying in bed with my dad and watching all in the family. it just makes me sad that someone who made people laugh and smile had to go through that. so sad!

I read a story many years ago that Carroll got his son a part on ITHOTN so would have a steady job for his family and more incentive to keep himself clean.
Also understand his son's death devastated Carroll. I hope he found some peace and happiness before he passed.
