Quite a number of years ago I sold parts at a car dealership in Santa Monica, CA. I met alot of actors in the context of them getting thier car repaired. There was no one in the Hollywood Entertainment Industry that was a finer human being than Carrol O'Connor. Period!

Mr. O'connor was a great guy. He sent me an autographed picture one month before he died, even though I'm sure he must have been quite sick at the time. He took the trouble to inscribe and personalize it to me. This act of kindness is something I'll never forget this great actor and human being for.

Here, here!!
I love him and miss him, as well. Each and every performance of his imparts something very special and uniquely his. My admiration for his considerable talents continues to grow, lo these many years following his passing. It is so very sad for those who share these sentiments, that his life could not have lasted many more healthy and active years. His joire de vivre and his inteb68lligence and great character were not here long enough for my wishes. I am truly thankful for the years he was kind enough to share with we, his fans.
He is one actor, in whom I was certain my affection and admiration had not been misplaced. He was a genuinely fine person, in addition to his being a tremendously accomplished actor and singer / songwriter. So often, as we learn the true character of the human being, existing behind the actor's performance; we find ourselves to be deeply disappointed in what it is we come to know and see there, behind the mask. Such has never been said of Carroll O'Connor, and I know it will never be.
Thank you, Carroll O'Connor. You were such a marvellous pleasure to behold. Rest in peace, dear friend.
It is, but a short step, from the sublime to the ridiculous!
