He sold his cell phone company. It's news to me that he (partially) owned one. It was sold for $1.35 Billion to T-Mobile. The Bloomberg story gives him an "undisclosed but “significant” stake in Mint". Other sources put the figure at 20–25% ownership. The article says he sold a gin company in 2020 for $610 million. He plays the same character in every movie but they sometimes do well.

i saw an ad for his cell phone a few weeks/months ago. can not remember the particulars…just remember thinking it was presented in a clever manner. i must look it up and rewatch it.

That's his scheme. He acquires a stake in a company then uses his popularity to sell it. He makes regular TV advertisements for the cell phone company and placed his gin in the Deadpool movies—which works, maybe? I didn't notice it. There was a brief period in the 90s when doing this sort of thing would have been unseemly.

Interesting, I did not know that. But it possibly goes a long way to explaining his interest, and so far apparent great success, in Wrexham.
